Coffee Talk #60: Most Wanted Games of 2010 #2 FFXIII

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Gilbert Arenas getting the banhammer from David Stern, your favorite sandwich, or CES 2010, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

The second game of my “most wanted” of 2010 list if Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that knows me or reads my stuff. RPGs — especially Japanese ones — are my favorite kinds of games. Square Enix is one of my favorite developers. With games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Crisis Core, FFIV, FFV, and FFX being among my all-time favorites, of course I can’t wait for FFXIII!

I’m really hoping that this is a return to glory for the series. I loved FFX. FFXI wasn’t my thing. FFXII was disappointing, especially because I’m a big Matsuno fan and wanted him to do well on the “big” series. My friends that aren’t Wired’s Chris Kohler are digging the Japanese version of FFXIII. I’m sure I’ll love it too. The only downside is that BioWare totally screwed my March 2010 by announcing that the Dragon Age: Origins expansion will be released that month.

On a related note, does anyone else consider the Xbox 360 version to be the “fake” version? I don’t have a good or real reason for viewing things that way, but the PS3 version of FFXIII is the only “real” one in my head. *shrug*

Now for the fun part! What’s #2 on your most-wanted list?

  1. #2 – Red Dead Redemption, The previous game was one of the best games last gen and I'm a sucker for western games. Hell, even Gun, which didn't belong on a system as advanced as the 360, was a great game. Plus there's the fact that Rockstar knows how to create one of the best single player experiences you'll find in gaming. and the story is usually top notch. Add in sandboxing and gorgeous graphics and you've got one of my favorites of 2010 right there.

  2. Two bits ladies and gents:

    1) Seriously, what do you think about the Gilbert Arenas situation?

    2) I'm off to the doctor for a few hours to talk about my knee options. I should be back within two hours. Don't burn the place down!

  3. @Rpad – are you considering the 360 version the fake version because it has more than one disc?

    1. @Shockwave562 (From the Doctor's office) That's really a tiny part of it. The game was created on the PS3 first and the port efforts came much later. It's also a mental thing. With FFVII, I found it weird playing a FF game on a non-Nintendo system. Also, this is the first mainline FF single-player game that's multiplatform. That's just weird to me.

  4. @Rpad – Gilbert Arenas is everything that is wrong with the NBA these days. I hate going to games anymore because the fans have no respect. between the gangster music, people walking up and down aisles whenever they please, and antics like this I've given up on basketball as a sport.

  5. @Topic – Completely agree with you Ray. Final Fantasy XIII is my #2 as well in the first quarter this year. It's been a long time since I have been able to sit down with a good Final Fantasy game, as XI and XII were just not my thing. Hopefully this is a return to form. The summons worry me a little bit, but I have high hopes. First day pick up here for sure.

  6. @Raymond – thanks, that makes sense. It would be odd to play something like MGS on the Xbox for sure. Or playing Halo or Gears on The PS3

  7. i know thats crazy

that would kind of be like playing a good game on the xbox thats not a shooter

    INCONCIEVABLE!!!

    im just joshing guys

  8. @Ray

I don't consider it fake or inferior. The White engine was developed on a PC. If anything…call it the inconvenient one.

    Bring back some Popeye's.

    @Arenas

This guy, the cheating ref, Ron Artest, Allen Iverson….WTF is wrong with these people? I wish I could make as much money as they do. Why the hell would you screw all that up to be "gangsta"? Idiots. People like that deserve whatever they bring upon themselves. I have no sympathy.

    #2 game: Red Dead Redemption

Shockwave said it all with post #1

  9. Just read a horrible article about NETFLIX

Warner Brothers is making Netflix delay new release DVDs by 28 days now. Enjoy.

  10. @Smartguy – what crap, these delays are killing me, I hate that I can't rent SD or HD movies on Xbox, PS3, Apple TV, or On Demand until a week after they have released on DVD.

Netflix might lose a ton of customers over this, who wants to wait 28 days to rent a new release? and i thought it was bad enough that digital rentals are available after a week. yikes.

  11. movie companies are just pissed cause people aren't buying movies anymore. to me if it comes between $30 BD or $4 rental it has to be a damn good movie for me to buy it

  12. @smartguy – yikes, i feel like pirating a couple of movies now just to feel better

  13. #2 God of War 3.

I am super excited especially after playing through the demos so many times. the flying part was intense. The graphics are gorgeous and the new weapons are a blast to use and watch them slay minions.

  14. @Iceman

Gilbert Arenas is a person? I seriously thought it was like a chain of arenas kinda like the American Airlines Center or something

  15. Gilbert Arenas has to forfeit his game checks for the rest of the year. 140k each. He will lose between 15 and 16 million over the ass brained stunt.

  16. @gilbert arenas topic

what an idiot! I can't believe his excuse for bringing his guns to the arena was because he didn't want his kids to find the guns and use them. it's like WTF, you make 140k a game, you can't afford a bodyguard? or a gun safe? This guy bought into his supposed nickname of "agent zero" a little too much.

  17. @tokz

he pulled said gun on a teammate over a gambling debt as well

he also can afford a biometric gun safe

  18. So not to shamelessly plug the company I work for, but Blockbuster has a mail rental service too and you can swap it at the store. And for the Hi-Def folks there's no additional fees fo' blu-ray. And You can use your online swaps for half priced games!!! Seriously guys we're getting desperate, Please.::ends groveling::

    @ topic.

Morons like him make you appreciate the Tim Tebows and the Drew Breeses more. With great power come great responsibility. Actually I was gonna say bitches. Lots and lots o'bitches

  19. @Smartguy Ha! I hope not. I did get another cortisone shot today. It was administered by a rotating doctor with a hot Russian accent. I really wanted her to say, "Stupid moose and squirrel."

  20. @Ray: PF sysndrome is no fun. I have the same situation with my left knee. Made me stop driving stick. It's been much better since I moved to AZ and there are less air pressure changes. The exercises they should have told you to do (or they'll tell you to do in physical therapy)……do them. They help. A lot. Take it from someone who knows.

  21. @Nightshade386 It definitely hasn't been fun for the last five months. Ha! I hope the PT works it all out. Apparently sitting for too long is bad too. I wonder if sitting at my computer and sitting on my couch to play games count as enough of a change? *joke*

The air pressure thing explains a lot. The pain would always flare up after international travel.

  22. @Ray: For me it was always worse in the winter when I was living on the East Coast. A cold front would come through and I'd get miserable really quickly. I'd roll over in the middle of the night and you'd have thought I was sleeping on Rice Krispies from all the cracking and popping.

Most of the exercises they teach you in PT, you can do from home. So don't feel like you have to keep shelling out money on the PT after about a month or so. You can still do the exercises at home after that and get good results without paying through the nose 3 times a week. But you need to commit to doing them whether it hurts or not or it won't get better. That's always the hardest part when there's not someone in your face pushing you.

  23. #2. Heavy Rain. I can't wait to get my hands on this ambitious game. This is another reason why I think Sony is the best. The fund different and creative games like Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, and The Last Guardian knowing full well that they won't sell great. FYI, M$ did turn down Heavy Rain and Little Big Planet.

  24. Gilbert Arenas is an idiot. I'm boggled by his decision to bring a gun into the arena. He deserves what he gets and I don't feel sorry for him.

  25. @RROD – I don't think M$ is sad about missing little big planet, that game is about as gimicky as the wii. fun for a minute or for groups but really grows tiresome quickly.

It would be nice to have Heavy Rain as a multi-platform release though. It's the kind of game more gamers should experience. I am patiently awaiting its release.

  26. @Gilbert Arenas: If he brought a gun to the arena, he's a moron, and I think he should be banned. 'nuff said.

I'm a Celtics fan, and I'm pretty sure I didn't watch a single minute of the finals when they won it all a couple of years ago. That pretty much shows you how little I care about pro basketball in general. I really only watch the NCAA tournament. I'd rather watch hockey any day of the week.

  27. @Nighthsade- the NBA is a joke these days. but I always enjoy a little march Madness

  28. I have pretty much no interest in Heavy Rain. I'll probably check it out as a rental, but what I've seen of the gameplay….it barely qualifies as a game. Even Quantic Dream has started calling in "Interactive Entertainment" as opposed to a game.

  29. @Nightshade – I suppose that means I'll be doing the Heavy Rain review? Haha, I'm going to try and put up a Heavy Rain preview article this week sometime.

  30. @Shockwave: Sounds fine to me. I'm not sure if anyone else on staff is interested in it. Lando just got a PS3 as well, but I'm not sure if that one's on his radar screen either. He'll more likely want to review Splinter Cell.

  31. Off topic: I ended Bayonetta. Good game. The load times on the sloppy PS3 version were horrendous. It had to load when you pick up an item, it had to load when you press select to go the item screen, and it even had to load when you press start to pause the game. Ridiculous. I don't mind QTEs but Bayonetta has the worst QTEs, the kind that you NEVER see coming that ALWAYS catch you off guard and you will ALWAYS die the first time because you NEVER have enough time to react. That happened quite a bit, that's what I call cheap deaths. I was completely lost with the story and it wasn't a good story at all. The best part about the game is the action. The combat is over the top and very good. They go out of their way to push sex with the character. If you like Devil May Cry 4 then you'll like Bayonetta. In fact, you'll fight the same bosses numerous times like DMC4. It's all action. If you're looking for more than that then you may be disappointed with Bayonetta.

  32. @Shockwave

I disagree. I still check out LBP from time to time to check out new levels and there's always new levels be added constantly. I know M$ don't regret passing on it because it didn't sell like Halo and Gears. As a gamer I'm not concerned with sales, I'm concerned with creative games and not safe shooter after shooter.

  33. @Nightshade

Heavy Rain is not for everyone that's for sure. Sony even knows this and they funded it anyway and I'm thankful because I played Quantic Dream's last game and loved it and can't wait to play Heavy Rain. That's why there's no innovation and creativity on the Xbox because I think it's safe to say that creativity don't sell like Halo and that's all M$ cares about.

  34. @Bayonetta: I always see the Devil May Cry games, I always go "Ooooh, that looks like it could be fun," and I never finish them. Ever. So every time I see something for Bayonetta and go "Ooooh, that looks cool," I remind myself how I always say the same thing about Devil May Cry.

  35. @RROD – I heard a lot about the load times on the PS3 port. seems to be one of the biggest drawbacks, that and slowdown

As far as LBP goes, I'm glad you liked it, I do, and I like to show it off when people come over. But there are times I regret spending the money on a game that offers little in the way of story or gameplay. I don't know if certain games are safe because they're succesful. What I do know is that playing a new IP is always a risk. A risk that really hurt EAs financials in 2009 if you ask me, too many new IPs and not enough recognized titles.

To say MS is safe is incorrect if you ask me, all companies have go to games

Sony has MGS, Uncharted (new one), Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo, and others

MS has Halo, Gears, Fable, Mass Effect, Crackdown, and others

    Nintendo has Mario, Zelda, Metroid..etc.

  36. @RRoD: Frankly, I wouldn't care which system Heavy Rain was on, it doesn't look like "fun" to me. There are plenty of different kinds of games on all systems, all of which can be fun in their own way. But I think most gamers are getting sick of quick time events in video games and everything I've seen of Heavy Rain's gameplay is a constant stream of QTE's. I don't see how that's particularly innovative other than they're basically making a "choose your own adventure" book in an interactive format. I can see people who thought they's like this game getting sick of it really quickly if the gameplay doesn't evolve. Maybe I'm wrong and playing it will change my mind. But what I've seen so far doesn't really grab me as "fun."

  37. @Nightshade – QTEs are the biggest ? I have for Heavy Rain, I will highlight that in my preview article, but if you're looking for a story that has you on the edge of your seat, Heavy Rain is where it's at.

  38. @Shockwave: I like video games with story, no doubt. but there has to be a balance between story and gameplay. You'll sit through a game with a bad story if it's fun more often than you'll sit through broken gameplay because the writers wove a good tale.

  39. @nightshade – it's weird, the previous game, Indigo Prophecy, wasn't always so much fun, in the sense of a word, as it was entertaining. I didn't really enjoy action sequences (QTEs) as much as I did the world that was created and the story line I was following. in that way it may not have been as fun as other games but it was more entertaining than most games I've played.

  40. @nightshade – I hear you, Crackdown (as a new exclusive Xbox IP :) ) was one of the most fun games I played this gen, it didn't matter the story was almost nonexistent. What Quantic Dream did with their previous game is hard to articulate in to words, but I had a hard time putting down the controller.

  41. @ NBA

As a Pittsburgh native, we never had a pro team. We had an ABA team, but I'm not that old. We have the Pitt Panthers and that's the best basketball you're gonna see out there.

However, when I moved out to SoCal, one of the first things I couldn't help but notice was the Laker fans. The Lakers vibe out here is very similar to the Steelers vibe in Pittsburgh. It brings people together who would otherwise have no reason to talk to each other. It's actually a great thing for the people of the area. In fact, the more and more I feel the Laker vibe, the more and more I consider myself… a Clippers fan.

  42. I'm shocked that Shockwave keeps mention sales numbers. What do we care how much EA made? Don't you guys care about creative games? Think about it Shockwave, if it wasn't for Sony we would never get to play a follow up to Indigo Prophecy. That's the main reason this gen is so screwed up. I never heard about sales last gen. How did this come about? Seems like most gamer today are more concerned with sales(of which they won't see a dime of) and not games. I don't get it.

  43. @RRoD: If games don't sell, companies can't release future games. As such, success of a title is just as important as it being fun. I mean, if everyone made games that were as niche as Heavy Rain, it wouldn't be nearly as appealing to you because you wouldn't see it as innovative. That's why the occasion game like that is good thing overall. I personally just do see any appeal in that particular game.

  44. Wow, that last sentence was a grammatical train wreck….

    Do over:

That’s why the occasional game like that is good thing overall. I personally just don't see any appeal in that particular game.

  45. Ha, ha!

    @Mr. Padilla;

Hope you feel better soon. I'm sure your knees will feel better if you stop kicking people in the ass. (*joke*)

    -M

  46. @ RROD & Shockwave

You have to look at the sales numbers subjectively. On one hand they sometimes represent the current fad of gaming. On the other hand, someone looking at sales numbers to figure out what games to buy might think that Wii Play is going to be one of the best games they ever played.

It's a case by case basis. My opinion, if you want to play all the games, own all the consoles. We all no the differences in each one and why they are the way they are. Heavy Rain may not have NEEDED to opt as a PS3 exclusive, but I won't fault them for it. I understand dev costs and all and it's simply cheaper to only develop for one system. If the publisher wants to pay the dev to develop for more consoles… so be it. If not, move along.

  47. @RROD – balance is key, some games have to sell big, it's the way things are.

Trust me, profit, or lack there of, drives just about everything in the gaming industry, whether we like it or not

  48. well said N8R – sales doesn't mean a good game, but it is my opinion that Halo: CE is one of the main reasons for the success of the Xbox 360. is it my favorite game? no, but thanks to that revenue microsoft was able to publish money in to games like Mass Effect and Crackdown.

On the same note it wouldn't matter to me if a billion people bought Dragon Age or just me, I think it's a great game. that's how I feel about sales/popularity of games

  49. @nigthshade- sometimes I wonder why I read my comment after I've submitted it… haha

  50. @Nightshade

I see where you were going with your last comment to me but that "if games don't sell then devs can't make new games" argument gets taken waaaaaay too far. I read that a game only needs to sell 400k to 500k for the company to make money and to see a sequel. People today act like if it don't sell 2 million in the fist week then the devs can't afford to make a sequel. Infamous took about 6 months to reach 1 million but long before it reached 1 million Sucker Punch announced Infamous 2. Killzone 2 never hit 2 million I believe and there's already Killzone 3 in the works. Quantic Dream's last game, Indigo Prophecy, didn't sell good but Heavy Rain is almost here. Your argument is taken way out of proportion.

  51. @RRODisHere Sales figures are a fun talking point. For whatever reason, people love discussing things like NPD numbers and whether a game hits a million copies sold. Personally, I care about sales figures for the companies I like, especially the small ones. Even though I've been writing about games for a long time, I'm still a fan. I'm happy when BioWare is successful, I'm sad when Iga's games flop, etc.

  52. @Shockwave

I see where you're going with the "Halo made M$ enough money to fund other games" argument but again, that's taking it out of proportion. Sony funds more games than Nintendo and M$ combined yet they sell less than Nintendo and M$. That should prove that games don't have to sell like Halo to be successful.

  53. @Raymond Padilla

I understand you point of view on sales. I wish Quantic Dream would make a killing off of Heavy Rain but we all know they won't.

  54. Last gen I wouldn't know where to look to find out how many copies a game sold. This gen it's unavoidable.

  55. @RRoD: The thing is, everyone views these things via their own perspective. So for you to say, "It's successful because they made a sequel," doesn't always fly for me…especially if a big chunk of the money is coming from the console maker or publisher and not from the consumer of the previous game. EA's making Dead Space 2, but you'd be hard to find an analyst who would call either Dead Space or Dead Space: Extraction "successful." However, the game was good, and I'm glad EA believed enough in the brand to give a sequel a shot.

  56. Heavy Rain is an interesting topic. You would think that a smaller studio would want to go multiplat in order to reach a broader customer base in order to pay the bills. This applies to a large developer/studio as well; CoD.

More customers means you can take chances and slack at the same time with projects. Slack is a horrible word…but let's face it, they all do it. All of them.

I do see MS becoming the EA of consoles though. Outright refusing titles if they aren't sequels or entries or tie-ins to existing franchises.

  57. @nightshade

I'm with ya on the Heavy Rain debate. I will borrow this game from someone. It seems like a movie where I push a button every now and then. I need to know more about the actual game part of it before I decide to purchase or borrow. Right now though…looks like a borrow.

  58. LBP

Bought it…played it…found it unremarkable really. There are better platformers out there. I didn't care about making a level and didn't think the platforming in the game was that good to begin with in order for me to dig through user gen levels. I had a friend play the game and he thought it was great.

  59. @N8R;

Wait until you see my next weeks' Steelers pic.

    @Heavy Rain;

It is one of the three reasons I'm buying a PS3. The other two are not even games. I hope it doesn't let me down.

    -M

  60. @LBP: It's on my Gamefly Q as a rental. It never really appealed to me when it came out, but I figure I owe it to the game to check it out at least. I think for people who are creative it's probably much more fun than people who are not. The whole level design thing is a little bit beyond me I think.

  61. @Nightshade

Wow, you're a tough customer. What games do you like? Also, since you are part of a gaming web site don't you think you need to be more open to different games? Do you only review games that you know you'll like?

  62. @Nightshade

Now that I think about it, you have to buy your games so I would be selective too.

  63. @RRoD: I like all types of games. RPG's, TPS's, FPS's, Action/Adventure, platformers & sports games. I've reviewed all different types of games, but I tend to leave my personal preferences out of reviews and stick to the game's qualities as much as possible. Obviously, that's not 100% possible because while I may look at a particular control scheme as unworkable, someone else might think it's just fine. Opinion is to a certain point, all about personal preference. But I try to go into a review with an open mind, but a critical one. Some things are obvious, and can't be overlooked in a review, no matter how much you might enjoy a certain game.

Thankfully, there are other people who work on our site with different tastes, so we can cover a lot of stuff that doesn't interest me personally. Thus I stay away from genres I don't like because I can't do an honest appraisal. I'm terrible at racing games, so you won't see me do the GT5 review. I don't like RTS's, so you won't see me do a Civ review. It's really common sense.

That being said, while I gave Batman: Arkham Asylum a higher score than Dragon Age: Origins because it deserved it on technical level for being a "better game," (in fact, I'd say it was GotY just nudging out Assassin's Creed II and Uncharted 2), the game I've personally enjoyed the most this year was Dragon Age: Origins. So as you can see, personal preference and a critical eye don't have to go completely hand in hand, but they both do factor in obviously.

As far as Heavy Rain and LittleBigPlanet are concerned, neither game appealed much to me. However, I have a Gamefly account, and have nothing against giving something a chance to prove me wrong. Just because I don't personally think that I'll find something entertaining, doesn't mean I don't see the qualities the game has to offer for someone else. That's why if you go back through this site through all my posts, you'll never see me say "__________ sucks," if I've never played it. You'll see me say something like, "________ doesn't really appeal to me." It's why I really don;t get these fanboys who automatically trash games from certain companies or systems without trying them first, simply because of an illogical impulse to defend one company or console they have no financial stake in.

That being said, I don't buy anything from Activision do to the way they conduct their business. But I do have a Gamefly account, so I still get to play the games.

  64. @Ray: I never said selling _______ number of copies is either successful or not. But if you're talking about me referencing Dead Space, it's widely considered to have underperformed by most media outlets.

  65. Dead Space was a great game and it did sell good enough to keep them coming. As far as "underperforming", I don't know who expected a Dead Space(a new IP) to sell like hot cakes. I think Dead Space finally taught everyone to stop waiting until the holiday season to release your new IP where it will get gobbled up by all of the high profile sequels.

  66. @Nightshade386 You didn't say anything about media outlets. You said analysts. Most enthusiasts outlets suck at financial analysis. What financial analysts said the game was unsuccessful after selling more than a million copies?

  67. @Ray: Does John Riccitiello count? Because early on after release, according to EA's own financials they weren't overly pleased with the results from either Dead Space or Mirrors Edge, but both have put up better longer term numbers…..once the price went down.

And EA's European Senior VP Patrick Söderlund has basically echoed RRoD's sentiments in post #83.

  68. @Nightshade386 In regards to your original comment, he doesn't count. This is what you wrote:

"you’d be hard to find an analyst who would call either Dead Space or Dead Space: Extraction “successful.”

That comment said nothing about the media or EA executives commenting on the early sales of Dead Space. Would most analysts call it a successful title? Sure they would.

  69. @Rpad – It's a shame you didn't like FFXI – Even for a mmo game the story for all the expansions were incredible.

@Sandrock – It's not like you won't get to play Heavy Rain geez lol. :P You'll just have to wait for a few playthrus first >_>

@topic – FFXIII and Heavy Rain tie for 2nd in my list.

  70. Wow, lol, missed a lot on this one yesterday and this morning lol.

@LBP – This is kind of a "love it or hate it". We own it, and my wife absolutely loves it. Doesn't play it that often, I have control of the gaming console haha, but I think we have bought almost every costume pack available, and she went absolutely nuts for the pirates one that was released a few weeks ago. Her son, when he was up for the summer, could spend hours playing with the level designer. In fact, he did on multiple occasions, and he would laugh after publishing them if someone didn't like them because he absolutely loved them. I, on the other hand, don't really have a lot of time to put into making levels and really exploring, and 2D platforming in a 3D space is kind of off-putting to me. Good purchase for the rest of the folks in the household, but not one I was able to dive wholeheartedly into.

@Sales – I don't think I have ever based a game-buying decision on sales numbers. I am certainly not part of the "everybody's playing it" crowd, but I won't avoid something if it did sell well. Whether or not someone else thinks it successful won't determine my level of enjoyment. It's just a big pissing contest anyway, so while they are comparing distances with Aunt Flow, I play the games on whatever system I want.

  71. @Larcenous – well put on LBP.

As far as sales go I agree, and I don't think anyone here would buy a game based on sales. but sales are most definitely important to the business. Not so important to the consumer.

  72. @Shockwave

"but sales are most definitely important to the business. Not so important to the consumer."

Exactly. We're not in the business so why on Earth do we as consumer get concerned with sales. Good games will sell good enough to be profitable and ensure sequels, guaranteed. Just because it don't sell like MW2 or Halos DOES NOT mean it's a flop.

  73. Sales are important to the publishers because it's their bottom line, and it's important to the devs because they not only like getting paid, but they want to see what they make be successful. It also opens up the doors for them in the future for sequels and creative control and what not. I think it's funny that they have become such a huge talking point.

  74. @LarcenousLaugh

Nothing is more funny than a great game with glowing reviews all over get down played by the media and fanboys because it didn't sell millions in week one. I just don't understand what sales have to do with the quality of a game. If sales equaled quality then my Wii would be played more than my PS3.

  75. @RROD – you have a point, but I feel more in to the market than a standard gamer, personally.

I will agree though that a game that sells a million copies is not a flop. to me, a good game is good whether it sells 1 copy or 2 million copies. But as a game media hobbyist, I certainly pay attention to NPDs, sales, and things of that nature.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm going to reserve my copy Saturday and coming home to watch some playoff football. I have some friends to come over to watch and my wife will be making her famous honey lime wings and chicken fingers.

  77. @RROD – oh I am a fan of football grub. It is definitely worth pre-ordering to get your hands on the first episode of DLC first.

You know, at first I didn't like DLC much but I am coming around to it

  78. I understand the allure of DLC, but I also see it being a way to sell you a game piecemeal. I would expect perhaps in the next gen for more games to be released how Fable 2 is Live right now. Episodic. While not heavily in favor of it, I do see some benefit to it. I'm sure some publishers (glaring at you activision) will pretty much just sell you the demo.

  79. @Smartguy – ya, a lot of that activision stuff is bound to happen, I mean, look how they've handled Guitar Hero

  80. @shockwave

Indeed. Look at how MW2 ended. They didn't tell half the story. What passes for a demo now will be what they sell you for 10 bucks or so next gen lol. F'n crooks.

  81. @RROD

If that is just a damn unlock code on the disc you have to pay for, I will break my disc in half, and mail it back to Activision.

  82. I just watched that video that was in the link RROD…that game mode looks like horrible.

  83. @Smartguy – I'm with you, I will break my disc in half and mail it back to Activision with a "polite" note if that's the case.
