Free Streaming Video on Amazon Prime is a Go!

The rumors were true! Amazon has kicked off unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows for its Amazon Prime customers. In addition to free two-day shipping and $3.99 next-day shipping on goods shipped and sold by Amazon, Prime customers now have access to “5,000 movies and TV programs”.

I strongly encourage you to consider Amazon Prime. I’ve been a customer since launch and love the service. You get great shipping rates and a decent library of videos to stream…and any purchases you make through this site help keep it going a bit longer. Honestly and selfishly, I think it’s a great value at $79. Plus, it’s cool to get free two-day shipping on really heavy items.

  1. Now I just need to find money for a Roku player asap!! I might not be able to get one though if I really want a 3DS when it comes out as I would just barely be scraping together the money for that. I guess I can just use my laptop for the time being.

  2. I'm an Amazon Prime member, too! I just love their service, so hearing this just makes it even better for me. :D

  3. bah! my order shipped but according to the estimated delivery date i won't get DCUO and KZone3 until next Monday.

      1. yeah i know. I miss Optimus Prime. It's just not in the cards for me right now especially after my car accident last night and the deposit i just made last week for the wedding reception place. If they had a monthly sub option i'd do that in a hearbeat! i think i'm cursed.

  4. I've thought about this service and have done some research. This has the potential to put a big dent in Netflix. Amazon has tremendous content delivery infrastructure in place and isn't as reliant on third party CDNs to get the job done. The streaming quality isn't as high as Netflix yet, but I feel that will be worked out by better encoding and gradually migrating their streaming content to their On Demand facilities.

This leaves them more money to license more content not too mention you can rent and buy from Amazon as well. Amazon is becoming the Walmart of the internet…and they are clean. Sweet.

I honestly never use eBay anymore because of Amazon. I trust the Amazon.

  5. @rpad

i just found out that one of my friend's just got two copies of DCUO and wants to sell me one of his so i can start playing sometime this weekend. will you lose any monies if i return the game to amazon?

      1. oh then i won't do it but i always wondered about that. I've waited this long for the game what's another more couple of days.

      2. Looking forward to playing with you. I'm in San Francisco for GDC next week, but I'd love to play when I get back…and I'm recovered from my inevitable hangover.

      3. oh well did you add me on PSN yet? i haven't logged on in this past week. please forgive me and my newbness when i play. i'm not a big fan of MMORPGs but i'll play them if they interest me.
