Please Spoilarz Inception For Me

With one exception, all my friends are raving about Christopher Nolan’s Inception. I’m genuinely surprised by all the superlatives being heaped on this movie. I’m sure it’s good, but I’m not really interested in paying money to see it. However, I’d like to understand it a bit better. If you’ve seen it, I’d super appreciate you telling why it’s so awesome.  Leave all the spoilers you want in the comments section (please).

you have to see inception, even if it's a matinee show. Well worth 5 or 6 bucks.

Leo D stars as Dom Cobb who leads a team of extractors. Extaction is the act of removing information from a person's dream. They are currently working on extraction on a client named Saito (Ken Watanabe). Saito is actually auditioning them for a job so he can take down his company's rival. Saito is impressed and decides to hire the team. Every time the team is done with an extraction Cobb spins a top to test to see if he's still dreaming or not.

Saito wants Cobb's team to plant an idea into Robert Fischer's (Cillian Murphy) mind that will lead to his rival company's downfall. The act of implanting a thought or memory is called inception. Saito and Cobb decide that this has to be a very long and complex dream for this to happen. Cobb recruits more people to help out.

While testing out the new recruits an architect, who creates the dreamworlds, named Ariadne (Ellen Page) sees an image of a woman tha keeps distracting Cobb. She confronts him and he confesses to her that is his wife who committed suicide because she could no longer tell if she was dreaming or in the real world. He tells her that he was being charged with his wife's suicide, ruled a murder, so rather than stand trial he fled the country leaving his children behind. A little crazy if you ask me, who abandons their kids!

Fischer's dad dies and on a plane trip back from Sydney after the funeral, Cobb and his team go to work. They kidnap him, (is it still called kidnapping when you're an adult?) in his dream start working on the inception but Fischer has a trick up his sleeve as Mercenaries (not the A-Team) come to his rescue. Mercenaries are a defense people have in their minds to prevent extractions and inceptions.

Eames, a person on Cobb's team, changes identities and assumes the identity of Fischer's godfather to gain his trust. They start another dream where Cobb talks to Fischer and convinces him that his "Godfather" wants to extract information from him. So Cobb talks Fischer into hiring his team and that they could go into his "Godfather's" dreams to see why he wants to extract information from Fischer. Here we enter a third dream where Cobb's team is going to do the inception but the mission goes awry as Cobb is distracted by his dead wife, Mal.

Mal kills Fischer and he goes into limbo. The reason why he doesn't wake up is because of the 3 layers of dreams they are currently in. Ariadne and Cobb try to find Fischer again to start the inception again but are stopped by Mal. Mal talks about when Cobb were married that he would go into her dreams and implanted the idea that he real life was a dream. Since she believed him, the reason she committed suicide was to wake up from the "dream" which really wasn't. She tries to get Cobb to stay in the dream world with her but Ariadne shoots her so they can finish the mission.

After the distraction Ariadne and Fischer go back to the third dream setting where the idea gets implanted that Fischer's dad wanted him to make his own legacy. He should leave that company or sell it and be his own man. Now that the "inception" is complete the team has occupy each of the dreams manifested before they are brought back to the real world. While they are doing this they are fighting off the mercenaries and Saito is killed. Cobb not wanting to leave his client behind goes to look for him in limbo.

while they are talking they are taken back to Saito's dream in the opening of the movie and awaken. Cobb sees that everyone is fine and Saito pays Cobb. The payment being that he is no longer a fugitive and he can be with his children again. now that's he's done with the "inception" Cobb spins the top but doesn't see what happens to it because he is distracted by his children, which leads to the question is he still dreaming??

Overall this movie was pretty good. It reminds me of Memento in a way, which if you haven't seen it is a great movie too. I give Inception 4.5 stars out of 5, reason why it's 4.5 stars is that this movie ran kind of long for me. There are some scenes i feel that we could've done without but it's still pretty good. Great acting and story telling all the way around. Go see it! If you have any questions please feel free to ask and i'll try my best but please go see the movie.

  2. @tokz_21 Thanks for the fine recap! Yeah, I'm going to wait for cable. Some of the concepts sound like ridiculous things they want you to take seriously. One of my closest friends disliked the movie and thought it was a joke after rewatching Blade Runner.

you're welcome. it took me a while to write. it's hard to remember things at times. now i know why critics take notes at times. I never thought to compare to Blade Runner but it's been a big long while since i watched it. I think it's on instant stream on netflix? Hey did you see that Clash of the Titans on Blu-ray, the recent one, is going to have an alternate ending for Blu-ray only. wtf is that? i don't see how it can have an alternate ending.
