Vodka in a Pill?!?

Grey Goose vodka

I’m hoping this is a joke, but The Times of India has reported that a Russian scientist had discovered a way for vodka to be produced in capsule form. The site noted:

Russian professor Evgeny Moskalev of Saint Petersburg Technological University has evolved a technique that allows turning alcohol into powder and packing it in pills. The new technique can solidify any kind of alcohol, including whisky, cognac, wine and beer.

As a fan of vodka (and really any quality alcohol), I find this disturbing. I can see a bunch of idiots on spring break popping pills of booze instead of learning to appreciate smooth vodka, bourbon, whiskey, rum, etc. I would hate to see my beloved Grey Goose reduce to a capsule — totally kills the point of savoring each sip. (And yes, I know there are plenty of vodkas better than GG, but it’s really easy to find.)

Like I said at the top, I hope this is just a joke.

  1. I hope it's a joke too, b/c I do like my vodka, and the occasional tequila sunrise. This world's already got it's drunks and druggies. Not a good idea to make it in one happy conglomerate.

I guess the good side would be no one can smell your god awful beer breath. Now here I am stuck at work and would like a bottle of Killian's. Argh.

  2. Well, I can see this being very useful if they can reverse the process by hydration. For example; if you have a glass of coke and had a Bacardi pill, you could pop it into your beverage and make an instant rum and coke.

Other than that it would seem pretty pointless unless you happen to be an alcoholic, in which case, you'll be an alcoholic AND a pill abuser.

  3. Everyone against this will think differently when they go to jail and someone keesters in a bunch of these pills.
