Detox Graphic Novels

Green Lantern Agent Orange

Okay, I’m back from my meeting with the CEO of Machinima.com and lunch with a friend. On the way back home I picked up Majestic: The Final Cut (50 percent off!) and Green Lantern: Agent Orange. I’ve decided that I’ve been playing too much Dragon Age: Origins and need to diversify my geekdom.

  1. @Smartguy Nah, I was interviewing him for an article for someone else and possibly here. Thanks though!

    @Iceman I actually received both, but have only played on Xbox. I finally beat the game last night (this morning, really) and will play through at least another time.

  2. @ Smartguy;

    Graphic novels are awesome! They are like novels, only with pictures! Personally, I'm biased towards Marvel, since I was practically rasied on X-men and Spiderman. I would recommend anyting written by J. Michael Straczynski (can't go wrong with him). I also liked the Ultimates (kind of like a new age Avengers).

    Outside of Marvel, I don't think I've read anything better than "The Killing Joke." Pick that one up if you like Batman. In fact, pick it up even if you don't like Batman.

    You reminded me that I read Secret Wars when I was young. Is that a Marvel graphic novel?

  4. @ Smartguy;

    I don't know. I've never read Secret Wars. But here's the rule of thumb; if it's on trade paper back or hardback cover and it reads like a novel, it's a graphic novel. Come to think of it, I'm really not sure the distinction between "graphic novel" and "comic books" aside from a more politically correct term or social stigma.

  5. Was that an interview Ray? If so, goodluck.

    I’ve never actually read a graphic novel…unless Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is one.

  6. I think you’re right, Mr. Padilla. I’ll be glad to take that pesky Dragon Age: Origins off your hands for you in exchange for this nice, shiny Rubik’s Cube… you know, to help you diversify your geekdom.

    I’ll throw in a leopard-print Snuggie just to sweeten the deal. After all, nothing screams “geek” than reading a graphic novel or gaming in a Snuggie.

    P.S.- Is that copy of Dragon Age for the PC or Xbox 360. I’m just asking since Xbox #5 just RROdied on me a few days ago. The coffin should be getting here soon.
