  1. @ray I'm going tomorrow to pick it up from a friend of mine. I stuck with toshiba again since the one I have now has lasted me four years and still works just fine (save for the power cord which is a constant hassle on my style apparently), it is one the Satellite L505's with AMD turion II dual core with a 2.3 ghz processor running windows 7 with 3gb of ram and a 250 or 340 gb hdd (i cannot remember which it is at the moment). I believe I got all of the specs right, if not I will update them for you tomorrow.

My friend got it for free, so I got it for about half of msrp, which was something like $629.99. So paying $350 for a brand new computer, when I was already sort of looking for a computer in that price range, seemed like a pretty good deal to me. I hadn't really had any luck finding a good enough computer in that range before so this was a good opportunity for me.

  2. @ray first website visit on the new laptop. its running smoothly so far, but it also has windows vista instead of windows 7. Fortunately that is an easy fix for me, because I can get a free upgrade to windows 7 through school on monday. Thus the transfer of files from old laptop to new will have to wait until then. I still need to get a webcam for it though, anyone have any suggestions on a good one?? I'm not too familiar with the market on those so I'm not too sure what would be a good one.

  3. @ray I will have to look their products then. I would like to get one sometime soon, and unfortunately this laptop doesn't have one built in.

lol I would use that, but I decided that it was not worth it to pay an extra $1200 just to get iSight. It would be nice to have that built in, but so far my laptop is running about as fast as my fiance's new macbook pro that she just got and has similar specs, and I paid $350 for mine while she paid about $1600 for hers

    Ahh… give it time.

On the real though, the Xbox Live vision camera will double as both. I have no idea what the resolution is though. Nor do I really know if the drivers come with it or if you have to find mods.

I know on a Mac you just plug it in and it works. That’s another thing about OS that the Windows fanboys try to downplay. The whole mess drivers and lack there of can cause.

I’m actually growing farther away from Windows now. I used to use both everyday, but now my Mac has all I really need. One day, I’ll install Windows on it as well (because I struggle with Crossover), but currently there’s really no need.

Maybe DC Universe Online will be the reason… we’ll see.

  6. I only run Windows on my Mac via virtual machine because I have to use ACL (audit command language). Otherwise, OSX does it all for me. I only play Blizz games on a computer anyway.
