“Mean Streets of Gadgetzan” is the fourth expansion for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. Blizzard announced the latest addition to its enormously successful online trading-card game (TCG) at BlizzCon 2016. The expansion adds 132 new cards to the mix, including several legendaries. The theme revolves around a shady corner of the Warcraft universe, with several cards poking fun at gangster themes. You’ll see cards like “Little Friend”, “Second-Rate Bruiser”, and “Small-Time Recruits”. Naturally, there will be a new game board (pictured below) as well.
Looking at the cards during the announcement, it’s easy to see how “Mean Streets of Gadgetzan” adds fun and depth to Hearthstone. The basic cards seem thoughtfully made, while some of the legendaries look amazing. Off the top of my head, it was easy to see how I could implement several Gadgetzan basic cards into the priest, hunter, and rogue decks that I use. I’m certain that top players and professional players will find inventive ways to use the new Gadgetzan basic cards in their favorite Hearthstone decks.
As for the legendary additions, I was immediately smitten with Kazakus and thought of ways that Wickerflame Burnbristle would be useful in control or fatigue decks. Again, this is all in theory and coming from the mind of a thoroughly mediocre Hearthstone player. I’m sure that expert players will think of much better ways to use the new Gadgetzan legendaries than I ever could. (I’m counting on them, so that I can copy their superior techniques.)
“Mean Streets of Gadgetzan” will hit Hearthstone later this year of PC, Mac, Android, and iOS. As expected, Blizzard is offering a pre-order bundle for the expansion. For $49.99, you’ll get 50 packs of the new cards added to your account when the expansion launches. I’m headed off to the press area to get some hands-on time with the new cards. Stay tuned for a hands-on preview! For now, check out the gallery below to see several cards from the “Mean Streets of Gadgetzan” expansion.
