“Free” Movies, TV Shows, and Music on Xbox Live This Weekend

Microsoft is running a promotion called “Entertainment Unlocked” that offers numerous movie, television, and music services for free. Normally, these services require an Xbox Live Gold membership. From 9:00 AM Pacific Time on April 19, 2012, to 9:00 AM Pacific Time on April 23, 2012, they will be available to all Xbox Live members. Here’s a list of what you’ll be able to enjoy this weekend:

• CinemaNow
• Crackle
• Dailymotion
• EPIX
• ESPN
• HBO Go
• Hulu Plus2
• iHeartRadio
• Last.fm
• MSN
• Netflix
• Syfy
• TMZ
• TODAY
• UFC
• Verizon FiOS
• VEVO
• Vudu
• Xfinity TV on Demand
• YouTube

It’s nice to see Microsoft using the tried-and-true crack-cocaine model of giving a taste away for free. I kid, I kid.

Seriously though, are there any services you’d like to try out this weekend? If so, please leave your picks in the comments section.

  1. I wasn't aware they had a crackle app. I want to try that out to see what it's all about.

    1. Tried crackle; only a handful of movies I'd see. I wish they'd add flixster so I can see my digital copies

  2. Xfinity is STILL not working for me. Comcast customer support is absolutely useless. If anybody reading this has Comcrap and an Xbox, please try to use the Xfinity app and let me know if you get Error code 808 after entering your user name and password.

      1. Damn. I guess Comcast hates me. Thanks for checking it out, anyway.

        F'ing Comcastic sons of bitches.

      2. OK, so I think I finally figured it out. Turns out after talking with about 17 different "customer service" reps (with about every other one trying to sell me an additional service) I figured out that the reason I can't use the Xfinity app is because I only have one cable card in my Tivo and not a Comcast set top box.

It seems that the Xfinity app on Xbox picks up the decoded data from the set top box only. The 360 isn't able to get the data through the Tivo with the cable card. So, it looks like I'm screwed until Comcast decides to allow the Xbox app to work with a cable card. Needless to say, I'm not going to hold my breath.

      3. Hmm that seems weird especially if u have access to HBOGo. If u have a cable card the only thing u can't get access to is the interactive menu or VOD or both i don't remember. Thats still weird though because u are paying for a digital cable service right?

      4. That's amazing. I've read that Comcast disputes claims of unfair practices of the xfinity xbox app not counting against their usage cap because the 360 is a set top box itself. You seem to have caught them in a lie. I'd send that in to some websites like Ars or DSLreports and get that out there.

      5. That sounds like a BS coverup response to replace "we have no idea what's wrong with our product". Why they think that sounds better, is beyond me.

      1. I doubt it too.

It sounds like they are just giving access to Silver members this weekend as opposed to the normal "Gold only" rule. So basically, if you don't have a Netflix account or pay for the fight… you won't get either.

I'[m going to a bandmates house to watch the fight anyway. We have a gentleman's bet going. He thinks Rashad can beat Jones… My money is on Jones however.
