Today’s Poll: Is a 22GB Xbox 360 Install Too Much?

During John Carmack’s QuakeCon 2011 keynote, he mentioned that there will not be a partial-install option for id’s upcoming Rage. Gamers can either run the game off of the disc or opt for a 22GB hard drive installation. Here are his exact words according to ShopTo News:

On the 360 we don’t have a partial install option; it’s all or nothing, which is kind of unfortunate. This means you have to install 21/22GB of stuff which takes a long time but if you’ve got it and you play it on the 360 that’s the way to go.

On one hand, 22GB is a lot of space and a full install would take a long time. On the other hand, it’s id and John Carmack; this is, perhaps, a case where gamers will bite the bullet simply because of the developer. Are you willing to give up 22GB of hard drive space for one game? Or is that too excessive? Will you make an exception because it’s id and John Carmack? Kindly take today’s poll and discuss!

  1. Not a chance I would or could. My last 360 only ever had the 20Gb hdd. I gave it away in exchange for the newer model but it only has the 4Gb drive in it (which I loathe btw). So no Rage for me

  2. Hell yes I would. To me that means there a ton of shit in the game and the load times should be shorter.

      1. *with a starry eyed gaze*

        <3 Bethesda <3

Seriously though, if that was what I needed to do to play Fallout 4 properly made by Bethesda… I'd do what I had to do.

I might even do it for GTA5 and especially San Andreas 2.

  3. Most normal games that I install on my hdd take about 5-6gb. If/when I get Rage I will definitely install 22gb on my hdd without giving it another thought. This is probably only because it is a game developed by iD, and I would not do this with many other games if they suggested this. I am also hoping like Big Blak that this will mean amazingly fast load times and a ton of in game features. Most other games I simply wouldn't buy if I knew this information beforehand, but an iD game is special
