Did you know that Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant played basketball with President Barack Obama in September? Of course not. Durant didn’t publicize “the event”. Here’s the scoop from ESPN:
According to the report, Durant’s agents, brothers Aaron and Eric Goodwin, made a connection with Reggie Love, Obama’s special assistant and personal aide, to get Durant an exclusive invitation to shoot hoops with the president. The visit occurred on Sept. 18, and Durant did not publicize the event.
I’m just blown away that Durant didn’t use the opportunity to get himself more press. If LeBron James played a game of horse with Joe Biden, he’d have it televised on ESPN3.
There’s got to be a catch with this Durant kid. He’s so different from the egomaniacs, punks, thugs, and idiots that make up the majority of NBA rosters. After Allen Iverson and his ilk ruined the NBA for me, a seemingly normal and well behaved young man like Durant is throwing me off.
durant is really one of those david robinson,-too good to be true- athletes
i bet the portland trailblazers are regretting drafting greg oden instead of him
the blazers have a history of making great draft decisions when they have the first pick
remember sam bowie over michael jordan??
HA!!
The Admiral has the excuse for being in the Navy. I expected him to be a gentleman. I'm waiting for Durant to go psycho and take all the G.I. Joe figures hostage in Toy 'R Us or something. He just seems too…normal.
I liked Allen Iverson too.
But we live in a society where we speak volumes with our money, and we show want we really want based on what we pay attention to and how people get paid (or in some way shape or form when money is involved). We show people that we want them to act a certain way when they are in the limelight- such as how professional athletes, musicians, celebrities all are-we follow people based on their outrageous actions that we encourage by following them, paying attention to them, and overall supporting them in some way. Then here's the real kicker- we criticize them for acting exactly how we have conditioned them to act.
In a society based on money, selling out for your own personal gain, playing to the crowd to get attention and get paid I find it laughable when someone is applauded for acting like a normal person should act in the first place and someone who acts like we have all conditioned them to we criticize and ridicule them.
Ive always like durant over Lebron. Instead of whining how he has no help he just goes out there and plays. OKC should get this guy some help asap so he doesnt leave.
Lebron's tweeting about "his' Cowboys as a lead story on SportsCenter is another reason why Durant is cooler.
I went to the Hornets game this past Friday. I enjoyed seeing Ariza shut down Lebron. Almost as sweet as CP3 being unguardable.
CP3 is pretty amazing. I haven't seen a small guard do things like that since Isiah.
I would agree very much with that comparison. He's a game changer for sure. He definitely exposed two glaring weaknesses in the Heat…they have no PG or Center. Okafur and Paul had their way with them.
