Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Steve Nash exposing the fraudulent NY Knicks, Christmas pork, or being stuck at the airport for eight hours, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.
I hope all of you are enjoying a wonderful holiday with your friends and family. As for me, I made it to Hawaii…after being stuck in LAX for eight hours. It was a tiring trip, but I’m happy to be here visiting family. Things are a bit hectic with catching up on rest, hospital visits, and all that, but I should be able to relax soon. I’m pretty tired. Since I’ll be having a very unconventional holiday, I was hoping to hear about some of the sweet Christmas loot you guys and gals enjoyed. Kindly share some of your favorite and most meaningful gifts in the comments section! Also, pictures of snow would be nice too.

I got a Nest thermostat. Pretty stoked about that. Also was gifted World War Z via iTunes.
Looking forward to hearing about your Nest experience. That looks really cool.
What is a Nest thermostat.. and more importantly, why are you stoked about getting a thermostat? Does it dry your laundry while you sleep or something?

I can control it with my phone.
From what I read, you pretty much control it with your thoughts after a while.
I named it HAL. It only seemed appropriate. Google an image of HAL and the Nest. I can’t wait for it to become self aware.
It’s an Artificially Intelligent thermostat capable of knowing how you like the temperature. It also provides the time, the weather, light conversation, rides to soccer practice, and endings that may or may not be happy depending on your mood.
I got a rock :(
I wanna rock
ROCK!
Twisted Sister, eh???
What kind of man desecrates a defenseless textbook??
I got:
Sleeping Dogs
Dishonored
Max Payne 3
Syndicate (my 6 year old daughter picked it out all by herself, I’m not even slightly familiar with it)
And since we’re in the same house, my son got:
AC3
Borderlands 2
and both Lego Harry Potter games.
Syndicate is good. I like just about anything Starbreeze makes.
Hey, remember when I asked about a good gaming headset for the Xbox? Well, guess what happened? For Christmas, my brother got me a Turtle Beach X42 and I also got a Razer Chimaera 5.1 as well. Now I don’t know which one to keep and which one to return/sell.
Is there anyone here that can vouch (or has used) a Turtle Beach X42? I’ve already read Mr. Padilla’s take on the Razer and I was leaning towards that, but I really, really want to know how the X42 holds up and compares. I don’t want to open both boxes to test them out because then I wouldn’t be able to sell them as “new”. Can anybody help me out on this one?

I’ve returned a turtle beach product. I’ve always had a great experience using Razer products. I’d say keep the Razer.
Besides it is what pros use and that will make you cool.
I got a pretty sweet Buffalo Bills hoody/jacket that I’m too embarassed to wear
I got Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut, and a 3DS finally. There were some other smaller things like shoes, sweaters, a couple decks of cards, a couple pretty big new york strips, and some pistachios.
Now I just need to get a few games for my 3DS so I have something to play. My sister has Mario Kart 7 and Star Fox 64 3D, so I beat Star Fox and don’t think I need to purchase that one. Mario Kart 7 will be one I want to get, as that game was even better than I expected. I’m also considering buying a grip for the system so that it feels a little more like I’m holding an xbox 360 controller.
