Justin and I will be spending some time with the Wii U this afternoon. I’m mildy excited to play more Wii U, though I’m also disappointed that I’m not more excited for the opportunity to play Nintendo’s upcoming console. On paper, getting to play new console hardware before it comes out should result in a mark-out moment. The Wii U is not getting me psyched (yet). Let’s see if that changes after I play with it for a bit. Aside from that, I’m going to spend some time with digital downloads: Double Dragon Neon on PlayStation Network and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD on Xbox Live.
How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?
Finishing Walking Dead season 2, and playing some Call of Duty or Batman AC. I think I’d prefer to play my DS, but I’m a little low on the games I want to play for that so I may have to make a trip to get something this weekend too.
I’d really like to hear your thoughts on the Wii U, Ray. The big tipping point for getting one is TVii, but I’m still not sure if it’s worth it along with everything else at this point. I automatically expect I would enjoy plenty of the games that are offered, but I’m still not sure how many I would really pick up. Xbox 360 has really been the only system I’ve consistently bought games for, so I’m not convinced that I would change my ways from the Wii to the Wii U.
Well it’s backwards compatible so dont get rid of ur wii games.
Yeah I wouldn’t plan on getting rid of them, but I’m not sure how much I could get out of the system I have now.
Get out? By trading in u mean?
yes, trading in or selling.
Probably only recommend it for when gamestop or best buy has 50% or 100% trade in bonus
Yeah that might be what I have to wait for. I’d love to be able to do the same thing with my ds lite and get a 3ds. I don’t remember when they normally do those things, but hopefully one will come up sometime soon.
I thought i read something on cheapassgamer that it’s 50 or 100% until 10/4.
I just looked on there and didn’t see anything on the front page yet. I’ll keep looking though, because I would probably try to do that with my ds pretty soon.
You can trade in with Amazon too!
I would do that if it looked like I could get more back from it. When I just looked it seemed like it would be worth about $30. Selling it through Amazon might be a better option. You don’t get anything for things like that do you? Also, do you get anything for sales made through Google Play when I click on an ad from your site?
No on the Amazon trade-ins. In my experiences, they’re much better with game trades than hardware trades.
For the second question, nothing on the purchases.
I’ve done a couple game trade ins before and they weren’t too bad, but the system trades always seem really low so I’ve avoided them.
That’s too bad, as I tend to look through Google Play on my laptop more frequently than on my phone and would have no problem making the bulk of my purchases there similar to when I make amazon kindle purchases.
I’m playing Guild Wars 2 tonight and maybe some tomorrow, but my weekend is being taken over by Pathfinder, since I have somehow managed to become the co-leader of a new tabletop-rpg group on campus.
Ray it is impossible to get excited for new consoles unless they emit holograms. When the 360 and PS3 were announced the technology inside of them was amazing. Now a few times per year we have new smartphones announced that incorporate more and more new tech while at the same time we take for granted the bundled features. Maybe it’s just me though.
Furthermore while messing with the iPhone 5 this morning I mirrored Angry Birds on my television via appletv. I just need a bluetooth or NFC controller and I’ll gladly accept new hardware every year with better and better looking games. I think consoles have to find a new way to differentiate themselves from both PCs and the ARM market. They won’t survive another life cycle as long as the current…which is about 3 years too long now.
I always cringe when I read comments like “the developers haven’t tapped all the power in said console”.
Torchlight 2 and League of Legends.
I’m once again completely burnt out on gaming. I’ve “gone through the motions” lately, but I’m just not enjoying it. I made an appointment with a shrink, so don’t worry about me.
I’ve been watching Mad Men because alot of folks (some of which are reading this now) mentioned it. My opinion is that I can’t call it great. The writing is okay (at best) and with the exception of Christina Hendricks, none of the acting stands out for me. I think the best thing about the show is the sets, wardrobe, and hair… and all 3 of those things haven’t been as good as they were in the first season.
I did fully catch up on Breaking Bad though and THAT show is great. Aaron Paul deserves multiple Emmys. That dude is REALLY good in that role.
Mad Men never really caught my eye. Everyone always said I should in school because I started as an advertising major, but I never thought it was anything special.
Breaking Bad is an awesome show, and very well done, but I’m still a little behind. I still have to catch season 4 on dvd sometime. My problem is never being around consistently enough to feel like I want to keep up on a tv show week to week. Arrow might be the only show I do that with, but Breaking Bad would be difficult for me because I do like to binge watch that one.
Now what I wish Netflix would get is The Shield, because I never saw that on tv but would like to now since everyone always talks about how good it is.
Sound like someone needs to play Borderlands 2 and find enough loot to make themselves a nuclear-powered, fully-automatic, grenade-launching, heat-seeking, anal-probing, freezing missile gatling bazooka that also shoots out flaming poisoned darts.
