Best NFL team: Saints
Best QB: Drew Brees
I dunno man, that Matt Flynn looks pretty good. lol……
Perhaps the first LSU qb to not be horrible at the pro level!Sent from my iPhone 4
Well, it helps to have a work ethic (lookin' at you JaMarcus).
I second the nomination of Drew Brees as best QB (gotta support Purdue players) and hope Rodgers or Brady don't get MVP over him.
I think the MVP should got to Jesus Christ of the Denver Broncos.
Being completely objective, I would have to vote for Green Bay as "Best NFL Team." The one loss that they did have even seemed like an aberration. While there were a handful of "top-tier" teams this year (that includes The Saints), The Packers just seemed to be the best of the best and seem like a shoe-in for the Super Bowl. My guess would be New England and Green Bay and I couldn't even predict who would win that one yet, but The Saints and The Packers is going to be a great game to watch.
As for best QB… wow, there are a bunch of choices. Arron Rodgers and Tom Brady are both obvious. Cam Newton and Matt Stafford both had an amazing season and both are still wet-behind-the-ears. Ultimately, however, Brees was great this year and he broke Marino's record, so I think that ultimately gives him the edge in the competition. Although the QB of the Year award can go to anyone of these guys, I think Drew Brees really deserves it.

Best Netflix rental: Rescue Me; it's such a great show, now I just have to catch up on the new episodes that have been added.
I'm having difficulty coming up up with other categories.
Could post this on best game, but I'm here so I'll post it here. Pokemon Black/White really should get some credit for being one of the best games of the year. I wouldn't call it the best of the year, but it deserves more credit than the series ever gets. The story and all of the elements in the game were so much better than any other title to date, but it still gets treated as a generic series that comes out with more titles that add nothing new to the table (ironically a lot of people who seem to say that play a lot of CoD).
Best Surprising Sales Flop – The 3DS wins this one. I was sure that the Nintendo fans would still support this, even if the games were lackluster and the system itself wasn't very impressive. For some reason, which still is disputed, the 3DS didn't do nearly as well as expected. Who knew?
Best "New" Browser – Google Chrome. Although Google's browser was actually released in 2008, it didn't really catch on until just this year, but it has really taken off in the past few months.
Best New Netflix TV Show – AMC's The Walking Dead. No, really, it is. Yes, there are other contenders, but this is one that really deserves the spot. It's a show about the zombie apocalypse, but it's much more than that. In fact, it's more about the aftermath than the actual event. The show never explains how the outbreak began, but skips right past it to the post-apocalyptic state. The plot is great, and (spoiler alert) the writers don't care about killing off major characters.
If you look at the whole year, the 3DS was quite successful. The launch was week, but the pace has picked up greatly.
I think the 3DS will always have the perception of being a console that doesn't have any good games or any real reason to purchase. It will always be undervalued by mainstream gamers who don't focus as much on handhelds, but will continue to sell (as Ray pointed out it has in more recent months). It even outdid DS or DS lite sales figures for the first 12-18 months if I recall correctly. Don't quote me on that specifically, but the sales pace has picked up more than people realize.
Sure, 3DS sales are stronger now, but they weren't so hot when the system first released. Yeah, the mandatory first-day sales were huge as usual, but without the drastic price drop and first-party games to back up release the system flopped for around two months until Ocarina of Time released. Out of all the releases this year, nobody expected Nintendo's new tech to sell poorly.
Due to the shock factor and the first quarterly loss in Nintendo history, I'm calling the 3DS as the biggest surprise flop of the year.
I don't see the first quarterly loss in Nintendo history and lackluster 3DS sales as being related by any means.
Yes the entry price started off high, and the original game selection was lacking, but I still wouldn't consider it a flop. Everyone knew that the game selection would grow and the price would eventually drop; the dreamcast was a flop (whether it was a good or bad system isn't the issue) because it lived a very short production life and despite still having titles developed it still failed as a system. The 3DS will not suffer the same fate.
You're correct on two counts. The 3DS is selling at a faster pace than the DS based on first-year sales. The quarterly loss is mostly due to two systems reaching the tail end.
Gotta add the Vita flop in Japan to that list too. That's abysmal.
I think the 3DS really turned it around with the price drop and the 3D Mario game that everyone is raving about. I'm sure that sales will also pick up when they come out with Pokemon 3D or whatever the next iterations will be called.

Zelda, Mario, and Monster Hunter were huge for the 3DS.
No one is talking about Brady who does a lot more with less and the man came back from 20 point deficits, granted the teams aren't "elite" but it's still impressive. The packers had a soft year although Aaron will get the Mvp I think it should go to Brady or Brees. Cam Newton is def rookie of the year.
I wish Cam Newton was in another division. Granted we blew them out the last game…but the guy will be a stud for years to come.
His time will come, most of the new or young QBs are shitty or average. Cam is already pretty damn good and out of all he seems the quickest to apply his NFL training techniques unlike Jesus or Blaine Gabbert.
Everyone knows that Brady is the only thing keeping that team afloat this year. But even Joe Flacco should be able to torch THAT defense. I hate Baltimore because every year they seem to have this attitude like they're the best team out there and everyone knows it, yet they haven't won a Super Bowl since 2000. But I think they are the best team in the AFC this year.
Watching the Jets implode was almost as good as watching the Heat lose to the Mavericks.
I hope we see the Celtics in the playoffs again just so I can rub it in.
After all the Dolphins are a mess and as much as I dislike the Patriots, Brady & Co. are a force of nature to be reckoned with. My only hope is that playing them twice a year makes Miami a better team.
But yeah, I can't wait to see The Heat wipe the floor with Allen and Garnett.

They'll have wheelchairs this time around.
Also, the fight of the (new) year. This has more hype than Manny vs. Mayweather, of course I'm talking about the rumble in the digital jungle. Due to contractual obligations I no longer can make any excuses as to why I can't fight. I need to practice and find my headset, it's on!
Now you are in a corner. The only way out is to serve some jail time like that other guy :P
Haha! It's never going to get to that point because I'm willing and ready…now.
Practice won't help. It is a predetermined outcome, like Chris Collinsworth and the AIDS.
And… if this "Rumble in the Jungle" talk is a ploy to try and eventually patent your own grill… fat chance (pun intended). Who's gonna buy something called "The Big Blak Lean Mean Grilling Machine"? 2 people will… your girl… and your mom. That is all.
Although I've learned to never underestimate Eli, I just don't see The Pack going down quietly to The G-Men.
Even though I am a firm believer of the "Any given Sunday" rule, I'm surprised you think New York will best Green Bay considering New Orleans beat them by 25 points during the regular season and you guys lost to the Packers. Don't get me wrong; playing with a chip on your shoulder is a great motivator and possible game-changer, but how can you think that the team that got the better of you is going to lose to a team that you destroyed?
-M
It's very hard to beat the same team twice in one year. As I mentioned in another reply the Giants took them to the wire. I think GB loses to NOLA in week 1 if Colston doesn't break his collarbone on the first play of the game and then fumbles. GB isn't unbeatable. TB should have beat them but GB received the benefit of the most horrible PI call of all time. Media darlings and perks that come with winning it all prior.I think Eli can beat them. I believe if Philly had squeaked in, they'd beat GB. Their D is probably as bad as NE.
The Giants had the Packers headed to Overtime, only to have Aaron Rodgers take the ball 80 yards in less than a minute to win the game. They CAN match up, offense vs offense. The question is, will the defense do enough?
(Also, they gotta beat the Falcons first, which is by no means, a given)
… and the "1st half of the season the Pack were the best, the 2nd half, not so much" argument isn't going to hold much water if you're referring to their one and only loss. After all, when you go 8-0 for the 1st half of the season, going to 7-1 during the 2nd half isn't really a downhill free-fall. You're right in saying that they don't look like the unstoppable juggernaut they were in the first half, but I still think that they are not banged up enough to lose during the playoffs because they have depth. Also, Greg Jennings is coming back.
-M
Absolutely not their 1 loss. The Saints have simply been hotter the 2nd half. #1 Offense of all time, most passing yards, most yards from scrimmage by 1 player, etc. Their O line is missing 3 ppl, that will be a factor vs the Giants. Let's not forget that the Giants can play in “bad” weather and have indeed won there. Also Rodgers has yet to win a playoff game in GB in January.Eli took them to the wire, and so did NOLA at the beginning of the season when they weren't as good as they are now. It's just like saying the Dolphins got better, which they did.
As a Giants fan, I have to say I think you have more confidence in my team than I do. This is a team that didn't bother to show up 5 different weeks this year (twice against Washington, once against Philly, once against Seattle, and once against New Orleans). I think they're good enough to beat any team out there, but I'm never sure which Giants team is going to show up.
Also, when they play at full strength they're a pretty good team, but they're not the '07 Giants. They don't have a running game, they're weak at LB and very thin at CB. That team was much better than anyone gave them credit for because after week 2 they were a completely different team on defense. But every one saw 10-6 rather than that they were 10-4 after the defense figured itself out. This year's team is 9-7, and they earned that record with some pretty bad play. If Eli's not making miracles this year, they're contending with the Colts and Rams for the top draft spot.
Good news for them is that the Packers defense is really bad so that will make the whole team look better. To me it just seems that everything is falling into place for NY. D line is making strides, the Pack O line is hurting, and Cruz is so damn good now. I can't see NY getting blown out if they do lose. Regardless though, I'm confident that either NY or NO will win in Lambeau.
I'm not so sure that NY will win in NY next week! They've gotta cover Julio Jones, Roddy White, and Tony Gonzalez, while trying to stop Michael Turner. That's not a good match up.
On the upside, the Falcons really are the spitting image of the Cowboys on defense, whom the Giants have beat twice this year. One solid pass rusher in Abraham (a la DeMarcus Ware), but not a whole lot else there. Mind you, I don't see anyone in that Defensive backfield getting hurdled by the likes of Bear Pascoe and Henry Hynoski the way the eternally overrated Terrance Newman did the other night (I'll never understand why THAT GUY went to a bunch of Pro Bowls. He was never that good).
It feels good to be wrong sometimes. Hopefully my G-men will prove you right about being able to win in Green Bay next week.
Essentially a shut out yesterday. They can thank Eli for having a leg in the endzone.I never want to hear how elite Matt Ryan is ever again.Sent from my iPhone 4
