There has been buzz of Sony Pictures working with Ubisoft on an Assassin’s Creed movie. If Sony’s domain name registration activity is any indication then it looks like the movie is a done deal. On October 20, 2011, the company registered more than 15 URLs related to an Assassin’s Creed movie. Check out the list Fusible unearthed:

Yeah, I’d say Sony is preparing for something. It could be that the deal is done or close to be finalized as rumored. Or it could be that Sony is just being proactive. With all the money that stands to be made with an Assassin’s Creed film, I’m leaning towards the former.

I would hope that they'll start at the beginning with Altair, even though Ezio's story has been significantly more well fleshed out.
Do you think that would confuse the audience since the medium is so short? What if newcomers dig Altair for 90 minutes and wonder who the hell the new guy is in the sequel.
I think they need to make Desmond more of the focus than he is in the games in order for the whole thing to work in a film format, especially if they're planning on sequels.
I agree with that in theory and from a storytelling perspective. From a movie-making perspective, Desmond can't do cool sh*t like Altair and Ezio.
I agree. At least…not until about Assassin's Creed Brotherhood in the games. By then Desmond's pretty badass. But they can do kind of a back & forth storytelling perspective, where they flash forward and backward to make it all work.
The movie will start with either Desmond or Altair, though if they've got even a bit of sense in their heads Desmond will be the main character. I suspect that the movie will tie in the discoveries of Altair, Ezio, and the mysterious denizen of AC: 3, whom we may infer is not Altair OR Ezio, but some other assassin from a (possibly) later date. I can think of some pretty awesome directions for this, so it'd better be good, because I haven't got one bit of artistic talent and even I couldn't botch this up.
I'm sure Michael Bay could ruin this movie with minimal "effort".

It certainly was……busy…..to put it nicely. Between the jumpy camera, the needless explosions, and the plethora of Megan Fox slow-mo running to get maximum breast jiggle, there wasn't much actual "movie" there to watch.
