I finally got around to watching the Scott Hall segment from ESPN’s E:60. It’s a fantastic look at the turbulent life and career of the man formerly known as WWE’s Razor Ramon. The piece covers Hall’s abuse of alcohol, recreational drugs, and steroids. It’s a hard-hitting look at a pro-wrestler that could have been one of the all-time greats, but succumbed to numerous temptations.
Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Eric Bischoff, PJ Polaco (Justin Credible/Aldo Montoya), Stephanie McMahon, and Sean “X-Pac” Waltman make appearances in the piece. One of the most surprising revelations was made by McMahon; she admitted that WWE has spent more than six-figures on Hall’s various rehab stints. Extensive footage of Hall at an indie show — hopped up on Percocet and Soma — was disturbingly sad.
Here’s a teaser for the segment:
I remember when I first saw Hall in the American Wrestling Alliance as “Big” Scott Hall. I thought, “If this dude gets rid of his white-man afro, he could be huge!” He went onto a successful stint in the WWE as Razor Ramon and one of the hottest runs of all time in WCW as part of the N.W.O. Hall was solid in the ring, killer on the mic, and had a great mind for booking. Like I said before, he could have been one of the best ever.
ESPN did a fantastic job on this piece and I can’t recommend it enough. Check it out hen you get a chance and let me know what you think (please!).
These pieces are always great.
Damn that was depressing. He was always one of my favorite wrestlers, its sad to see what happened to him.
What do you guys think of the promoter pushing him to go to the ring when he was clearly in no condition to perform?
I understand him being mad, but that was no excuse to let him perform that night. He was barely able to stand.
It depends.
If I was the promoter and I already paid the guy… he better get in that damn ring. It will be a quick match and he will lose… but I'm getting my money's worth. It may not have even been the promoter as much as Hall's people that forced him in the ring.
Granted… it was most likely the promoter. They should of played it up and had someone taze him first or something.
I have to agree with X-Pac on this one. The promoter didn't want to take the heat and he was already paid, so he took the easy way out and shoved Scott Hall out regardless of his condition. They should have either issued a refund or reschedule the show. All you have to do is go out there and say "Scott Hall has been hospitalized after suffering from seizures. The show will be rescheduled for a later date after Mr. Hall recovers." or "Tickets will be refunded at the booth." Yes, people would have booed, but it would only last for a few minutes. The alternative could be categorized as cruel and inhumane treatment of the elderly and disabled.

My friend told me it was on after it aired. I was like what an ahole. I'll try to follow the link TC provided when I get to my desktop later, but that preview is pretty depressing.
i took the link down, because the link is imbedded in the actual story
I think that the saddest part of all of this is that Cody (Scott Hall's son) wants to be a wrestler.
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with that kid's head?

They're allegedly estranged again and Cody was only doing it to spend time with his dad.
Damn that was rough, its always hard for me to see people that gone.
