Matt Hardy Arrested for DWI, Fired From TNA

Guess who you won’t be seeing on Impact Wrestling anymore? Matt Hardy, that’s who! After being arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, TNA announced that it has released Hardy. The wrestler was arrested on Sunday after wrapping his Corvette around a tree, an uncommon activity for sober people driving around on a summer afternoon. At the very least, his mug shot (courtesy of TMZ) makes him look like he was on something.

If Hardy is found to have been driving while intoxicated then he is one of the dumbest people in the history of North Carolina. Has he learned nothing from his friends and family?!? Most of you know that his brother, Jeff Hardy, has had numerous substance issues and is an accused drug trafficker. His best friend, Shane Helms (The Hurricane, Gregory Helms), was recently in a horrific motorcycle accident and is also being investigated for driving under the influence.

I’ve always liked Matt Hardy and I’m bummed to see what a wreck his life has become. What the hell is he doing?!? Perhaps he’s trying to outdo Jeff??? How do you guys and dolls feel about this incident?

  1. Matt Hardy's career almost seemed to go backwards.

He started off by starting his own local promotion, ended up in the WWE in a faction with PS Michael Hayes, then he won championships, then his girl left him for another wrestler, then nobody knew who he was, and now he's acting up in a rebellious manner.

He obviously read Mick Foley's book from back to front.

    1. I think his program with Edge after the Lita breakup was the best work of his singles career. His stuff with MVP was kind of amusing. After hitting TNA, his career hasn't been the best. The same goes for his brother.

      1. I totally agree with that. There was a reality to go with the angle, that usually makes for the best stories.

However… I think the highlight of his career was the final ladder match with Jeff against Edge & Christian in the Terri Runnels Invitational Tournament at No Mercy '99.

But that was in the 'second fiddle" portion of his backwards career.

      2. I should note that he's one of the nicest WWE guys I've ever met. I interviewed him twice, once for Yahoo! and once for GamesRadar. He was really approachable and accommodating. He always asked if his answers were what I needed and if he needed to do anything over. He was also unusually touchy feely. I was totally cool when Mickie James was like that. With Matt, it was kind of weird.

      3. Wow… that is approachable.

I actually really admire what he did. Him and his crew as a youth were huge fans and started wrestling on a makeshift ring made from a trampoline. They eventually bought a ring and he started his own promotion and ran it.

When he and Jeff was doing the damn thing in WWE, Matt was still the smart one and letting Jeff risk his life for the pops. His solo work did kinda fizzle though. He really only worked well with a few people.

      4. The story of OMEGA is pretty cool. Matt should get big props for that.

I should also mention that he let me rag on his entrance music. It starts with the lines, "I can slap a tornado. I can dry up a sea." I was goofing on him and sang, "I kiss like a tomato. I can swim in my pee." I also asked him why he gave the "shocker" sign during his entrance. Ha!

      5. That's what I'm saying about OMEGA.

Everybody talks their dreams, but few people move forward to make them happen, especially at the age Matt was when he did that.

I think he's been on the wrong side of the curtain for some time now. I really hope that with all this, he restarts OMEGA for all the drugged up wrestlers.

  2. That's too bad for him. And so soon after the Ryan Dunn incident too. It is actually interesting to me that this happened in North Carolina, as I believe Cliff B made some statements on Twitter about his thoughts on this issue in North Carolina. Something about the lack of public transit in such spread out areas.

      1. Haha yeah, I don't believe I've seen a picture of it but its a lambo, no?Also, this is the first time I'm attempting a reply via email. If itworks, then you will know. If it fails then nobody will have to know.

  3. Well maybe matt hardy has something else to add to 2.0 gimmick. He can add something like, Matt loves to drive while having a beer or two.
