Your Super Bowl XLV Predictions

Here’s some space to post your Super Bowl XLV predictions and discuss the game on Sunday. It’ll be like watching it together! I also wanted to get your take on the odds, as well as your over/under picks. Last time I checked, the Steelers were slightly favored:

Super Bowl XLV Odds
-125 Pittsburgh Steelers
+105 Green Bay Packers

The over/under was set at 45. Which way would you bet?

For the record, I’m rooting for the Steelers on behalf of RPadholic N8R and my old G4TV coworker Bleahy (I know you guys miss him. I do too.).

  1. I'm gonna pull for PIttsburgh. I hate Mike McCarthy. I was also pretty critical of Mike Tomlin before the season started and he is making me eat some of this delicious crow. He's a hell of a coach and this Superbowl will easily be all his. No more Bill Cowher shadow.

On a different note I'm also hoping that James Harrison is MVP. The guy looks mean as hell and I'm sure some of those hits were intentional…but the fines were just outrageous and it would be a big F U to the NFL.

  2. The AFC needs this win after that horrible Pro Bowl.

    I would bet the under

    Steelers 24

    Packers 17

      1. I don't know man I look at it as a great defense vs a good one. If it goes over it wont be my much. That's my own method but again I never put money on it.

  3. at the beginning of the year I said the Packers were going win. This would be the first time I got the pick right so I gotta go with the Pack

    1. Ok… so, the Steelers will score 5,250 touchdowns (and make all the P.A.T.s) and 30 field goals.

I'd bet at least a dollar against that happening.

      Any takers?

You know, it begs the question- how many points can a team possibly score in a game assuming that their defense always intercepts the ball for a touchdown, recovers fumbles on every play for a touchdown and the offense always scores a touchdown on their first possession?

      1. Well in Madden 08 I scored right around 100 or so. And that was with 5 min. quarters all pro. I would say 84 is a good number though because that is what the Madden games set as the score to beat for a couple achievements.

    1. Yeah, I heard about that. Honestly, he can't be any worse than Carlos Alvarez (our current mayor) or any of the #$%&@! city commissioners that have no limits on how greedy and sleazy they can be.

Believe it or not, he may very well be able to pull off a "Barack Obama" by getting elected based largely on the black population that never shows up to vote. The majority of the voters (that actually show up to vote on a regular basis) down here are Hispanic, whites, and white Hispanics. Old people and Jews make up the "white" part of the voter turnout and unfortunately, the majority of the old people and Jews (and Hispanics that vote) are racist… or at least they are when it comes to voting for someone into office. In all fairness, black politicians down here have typically been more corrupt than their white counterparts, so I guess that may have something to do with it (Google "Art Teele" just to get an idea of what I'm talking about).

But, yeah, I'd vote for Campbell on his street cred alone. After all, he is the guy that helped put the Miami Hurricanes on the map with his support during our "dynasty" years.

      Good times.

      1. I tried to think of a way to work "Me So Horny" into a campaign song… but it wasn't happening.

In The Rock's autobiography, he talked about how Campbell used to be in the Canes locker room for every game and occasionally he would out bounties on members of the opposing team. He'd be like "I'll give $500 to the person who takes the RB out of the game" or something like that.

I'd love to see him win it… but I doubt he will.

    1. No relation, I swear.

That last name is as common as palm trees down here. It's like the last name "Smith" in New York, "Wong" in L.A., "Johnson" in Atlanta, or "Howington" in New Orleans.

  4. I'm contractually obligated to root for the Steelers since they're the wife's team. But I think they're the better team anyway. All other things being fairly equal, they've had a running game all year long while Green Bay's recently just discovered on in 2 of the 3 playoff games. Plus the experience of having been there and won 2 very close games before means they probably sneak out a close one.

  5. I'm obligated to cheer for no one, since the Bears got taken out and I actually was ok for them beating the packers (if it would have happened) because I was tired of the bandwagon fans for them. I really don't care for either of the teams this year, but it should be a good game so I am looking forward to watching it. As long as my fiance makes it down today I will be having a bunch of people over.

As far as the score, I would say Steelers 27 Packers 23. I have no clue how the over/under works though so I can't comment on that.

    1. @ BSU

Basically the over/under works like this. Do you think the total scores of both teams will be over 45 or under 45 points. Thats how I understand it .

      @ALL

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I don't like to gamble.

      1. That makes sense. In that case I would say over. I think only one of the defense will dominate today, not sure which, but it will not be one of those really low scoring games on both sides. The great thing about predictions is I could be completely wrong and it wouldn't matter! haha.

      2. Well that was an interesting game. I really thought the Steelers would dominate, but sort of hoped the Packers would do well—all the while thinking it wouldn't happen. I was proved wrong and like I also predicted, it didn't even matter! haha. Was a little disappointed though because I felt like it wasn't as good of a game as it could have been. I really would have liked to see two powerhouses butting heads the entire time.

  6. I was actually going to post this Clubber Lang prediction.

    1. @rpad

haha. I love that line. along with

Reporter:" Do you accept the challenge for a rematch with Rocky Balboa?"

Mr. T/Lang: "I reject his challenge, cuz Balboa is no challenge."

  7. I gotta root for the Steelers seeing as how the Packers embarrassed my Falcons in the playoffs.

  8. N8, you're going to hate me for this, but according to my math, the Packers will win by six points.

Of course, I also predicted the Falcons and the Patriots in the Super Bowl, so…

    -M

    1. Ok, that settles it; everybody here shall now officially refer to me as Michael Patcher.

      -M

PS- Sorry N8. Sometimes I hate being right.

    1. I'm watching at a friend's house. Wings, chili, burgers, pizza and idk what else.

A friend from marvel? Nice! Ask your friend where is marvel's version of dcuo.

    2. Stayed at home and my fiance cooked a lot of great food for a bunch of friends. We had hot dogs, chips, dip, hillshire farm lil weiner's, wings, and chicken wrapped in applewood bacon with a crushed red pepper and brown sugar marinade (one of my new favorites!!). It was all very good and I am glad there are a lot of leftovers.

  9. for the first time ever I correctly predicted the super bowl winner before the year, I should feel happy right? lol

  10. My condolences to N8. Roethelisberger didnt come to play today. The defense tried it's best

    1. I would have to agree with that. I did not expect him to be the one throwing interceptions at all.

      1. Let's be fair, the one INT he got hit in the throwing arm as he threw and it ended up about 10 yards short of the target. The other one was a poor read where he threw it into double coverage.

  11. I didn't watch the game, does that make me a bad person? I saw the fumble at the end of the third or the fourth.

  12. I thought the game was kinda boring at times. I seriously enjoyed both teams in the playoffs more vs watching them play one another. The commercials were average this year. Best one had to be the kid in the darth vader suit. I normally don't like kids but you have to love one who is trying to be a Sith Lord with a costume to boot!
