Google has released a teaser video for the upcoming Android version 3.0 (Honeycomb). This particular video focuses on the OS’s tablet functionality. While several vendors have jumped the gun with Android tablets, Honeycomb is the first version of Android designed with tablets in mind.
Kindly check out the video and let me know what you think (please)!
This is why I am holding out for a tablet/slate
Honeycomb good!
Me want Honeycomb!
What do you think will happen with Android for phones and tablets? Do you think Google will stay with 3 for the tablets (3.1,3.2,.3.3 etc) and take the phones to 4.0, or a hybrid of some sorts (in terms of hardware) using Honeycomb?
Honeycomb will be for phones too. The plan, for now anyway, is one OS for phones and tablets. 3.0 just happens to be the first version of Android that was optimized for tablets.
I was actually shocked that Samsung sold as many Galaxy Tabs as it did. I didn't see the point of buying an Android tablet when the software wasn't ready for the form factor.
I would agree that there isn't as much of a point in buying an Android tablet without optimum software, but I think that points to two things. 1) Tablets are going to be huge, and Samsung is jumping the gun on tablet sales which could help increase their brand awareness with consumers later in the year or when people are making recommendations and more purchases. 2) People are anxious for a serious competitor to Apple products in tablet computing, and Android is their answer.
To be fair Samsung changed a lot of the applications to be better used with the Tablet. Gmail was the main one. it looks very similar to the one that will be available on Honeycomb.
bah. iPad > Android tablet lol.
perfect size + great battery
