Christmas Randomosity Comment Madness!!!

I’m going to be in Orange County for the next two days, hanging out with family and friends for Christmas. I’m bringing my Google Chrome Cr-48 with me, but my proper laptop will stay at home, ergo I won’t be posting any proper stories. That said, I’ll be checking the site a bunch to see how you guys and gals are. It’ll be like celebrating Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, the destruction of Xenu, etc. together! With any luck, we’ll set a new comment count record for RPad.tv. That would be an awesome Christmas gift!

Whatever you’re celebrating (or not celebrating), I hope you’re having an excellent time with friends and family! As for me, I wish you a wonderful commercial holiday!!!

  1. Anyone going anywhere interesting for the holidays? My friend Double Fine Anna is in Australia and I'm jealous…partially of her for going to Australia and partially of the Australian beaches that get to gaze at her bikini bod.

    1. I made the long 20 minute commute to my parent's house and my fiance is on her way down here as well. That's about it for now. I will be travelling back up to her place probably sometime next week.

    1. cool. they look like fun, but I want a Roku player more I think. That would force me to get a Hulu+ subscription and probably never watch regular tv again. lol.

      1. No interest in Hulu plus. There are ads still. I'm quite happy being able to stream media from all of my iOS devices and iTunes machines in addition to Netflix, YouTube, etc.

I think a new update allowing apps and safari will make it a must have device.

      2. I like the options that Apple TV gives, but I don't like to buy everything through iTunes because I do not have enough money to afford all of that stuff. I went through one day and priced my library and it came it to around $15,000 worth of digital downloads if I bought it all through iTunes…I definitely don't have that much money for tv shows and movies- but would more happily pay a $10/month subscription for tv (even with some ads) and likewise for Netflix, etc. A Roku players just seems more logical for me.

      3. @bsu

you know you can put that content into iTunes right? I ripped every single dvd I have and put it onto an HDD on a spare PC. My Apple TV recognizes it since I have homesharing on and will stream anything inside of the iTunes folders. No need to rebuy, just turn it into bits and bytes lol.

      4. I know I can do that, but it all works so much slower to run anything through iTunes- and I would rather stream everything through windows media player. I make some doubles of some of my video files so that I can add them to my iPod touch to watch on the bus to campus or something like that, but they are not the majority because I watch most things in Windows Media Player, not iTunes. It is easier to have everything in that format since it is more often used, and I believe a Roku player would allow me to do that. The Hulu+ and some of the other options that I feel Roku has over Apple TV make it a better buy for me I think. Although I would love to have an Apple TV and just afford to purchase everything I watch through iTunes.

      5. @BSU

It takes about 5 seconds to buffer on my AppleTV if it is an HD movie. I was surprised how quick it was.

By format you mean not mp4?

Let us know how the Roku goes. I'm all about having all of my gadgets interconnect, so I can see where you want the continuity there.

      6. That is pretty quick. And yes I did mean not mp4 with the format. AVI and WMV are what I have, mostly AVI. I find it tedious to keep multiple copies of the few shows I watch on my iPod touch so that I have them available in both places, let alone what it would be like attempting to keep my whole library like that.

I'm hoping to be able to get a Roku player sometime in the near future, especially since some models are only $59. The only thing I don't like about WMP is how it doesn't have the option to remember playback positions like iTunes, other than that I love using the latest WMP.

      7. Here's how I do it:

First off, I have 2 video libraries. I have iTunes (that locks me down to MP4) and a secondary folders that's all AVI. All of my music is in iTunes.

I can stream all of it to my 360's with a simple app called Connect 360 that was only $20.

Then, there's Zumocast which will stream to any browser anywhere in addition to my iPhone.

But what I got for christmas was a mini DVI to HDMI cable… now I have my 40" HDTV set up as an external monitor for my Mac. I set Quicktime up so that as soon as I hit Command+F, the video shoots over to the TV.

This cable also helps my Photoshop and video editing endeavors… It rocks.

  2. Well my pokemon breeding is definitely a grind, It would really help if I had some 31 IV dittos. I'm attempting to look online at some forums to see if anyone has any available, so hopefully I get a hit back somewhere along the line.

    1. Haha when i first read the part about level 31 ditos, i thought it said ur looking level 31 dildos and were going to search forums for an owner of one. I was like wtf and then i zoomed in and saw i read wrong. Thank god

      1. HAHA! yeah that would severely change the meaning of my post! lol. I'm not even sure how a dildo would level up…perhaps by causing X amount of orgasms it earns stat points. or something like that…

  3. id like to apologize to the congregation of saint anns catholic church for my 4 year old daughter being an asshole. I dont understand what happened to her, we dont spoil her, we dont baby her, shes just afraid of everything…i dont get it

  4. So I got God of War 3 for christmas. I started to play it this evening and the sound kept messing up whenever I would fight that poseidon horse crab mob. I restarted 3 times and it still did it. So finally I just decided that I would grin and bear it and go through the fight. I did and of course the game has me falling in an endless hole shortly there after. WTF? This is horrible for a first party title.

I'm turning it off and not going to play it again for a long time. Maybe I'll let it update then. I didn't want it to update tonight because I wanted to play it.

    1. @smartguy sorry to hear about your gow 3 issue. I dont remember having an issue with that game ever. I hope it works out for you after the update.

  5. @All

Merry Christmas!! Hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe holiday season with their family and friends!!

  6. Merry Christmas, everyone! Apparently, I'm getting my present in nine months.

    My wife is pregnant!

N8, Nightshade, Thundercracker…. HELP!!! I don't know the first thing about being a dad!

    -M

      1. apparently, from my comment above, i dont either

congratulations man, trust me, its the best thing that ever happened to you….how old are you mike?

    1. Thanks guys. My wife laughed her ass off when she read Smartguy and Thundercracker's comment.

      -M

      1. Ha! Yeah, I wish it'll be a boy that will grow up and be able to turn his body into ice and turn the surrounding moisture around him into various forms of ice that he can manipulate at will.

…but with my luck it will be some mutant girl that will only be able to create stupid sparklers from her hand.

        -M

      2. DAZZLER!!! lol. I guess it supposes what mutant ability your wife has to pass along as well to determine what ability your child could have.

      3. Yeah, I was thinking about Jubilee, not Dazzler. I remember her (Jubilee) because she was always ruining what would otherwise be an enjoyable comic book, simply by her presence.

In my opinion, Boom Boom could kick Jubilee's ass. Or at least she should.

        -M

      4. @Iceman

It could be something strange and useful….like the ability to do any type of math or algebra in his/her head instantly. That would pay off better than having the Williams sisters as children.

    2. DUDE!!!… That's awesome. Congratulations are certainly in order.

In my experience, the fear is much greater at this point than it is shortly after the child is born. If you really think about it, the only thing that scares us about having kids is our own insecurities. Once you get past that, being a parent is the most important thing we can do and it's actually super easy. Hell, I'm sure you've seen all the total idiots out there that actually do a great job at it.

Also in my experience (and it sounds weird for those who don't know), having 2 is easier than having one.

When my oldest son was born and before my daughter came around, I was overbearing him. I would stay one step behind him with everything and move things out of his way that I thought might be hazardous. This was too much. When my daughter came around, not only was I forced to ease up and let him explore the world on his own (which we as humans actually learn alot more from) but them together adds an extra element of life that I would never be able to teach them otherwise.

Again though, congratulations to you and Mrs. -M.

      1. i need to take this advice as well…my daughter is 3 feet tall, but has a 180 pound shadow

      2. That's EXACTLY how I was with my son.

Seriously think about this (no matter how scary it sounds). No matter how much you tell them about fire… they will never know the true danger unless they know what getting burned is like.

Don't take this advice literally, but all humans need to understand dangers like this.

My daughter got a Barbie Dream House from Santa by the way… she totally went apeshit.

My son got a guitar that he loves, but it's crap so it broke already. I'm gonna replace it with a Squier Strat and a mini practice amp.

      1. I have 2 boys ages 13 and 3. The best advice I can give is do what you parents did, spank him/her when need be. America has become so wuss-ified resulting in kids these days having no respect for their parents or any other adults. But, kids are a joy. Nothing makes me feel better than getting home and my 3 year old runs to me with excitement and hugs me screaming "DADDYYYYYYYYYYY"! The 13 year old, on the other hand, is at that age where he's liking girls and wanting to have a girlfriend and let me tell you, I we to some of the school's functions and a lot of those middle school girls chests are bigger than my wife's chest. They were all skinny and flat chested win I was in middle school, but that's another story.

    1. no games…just giftcards…well, those will turn into games!!!

merry christmas to you too holmes

    2. no games, but tons of movies. I got the Matrix trilogy, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Back to the Future 25 Anniversary trilogy, and 4 out of the 5 movies from the Dirty Harry series. Also I got Coraline and the Corpse Bride and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. That practically doubles my movie collection, haha.

    3. I didn't get any games either lol, but I got some things that I could really use. (sheets that fit my new bed and a thermal to wear under my work uniform.)

  7. @ray

it sounds like you miss gamespy

maybe you need a kenny fucking powers style comeback?

    1. Nah. That site is nothing like it was when I worked there. It was a brilliant place to work before IGN bought the site. That changed it forever for lots of people…including me.

      1. If we can determine his wife's superpower then you could have the whole family involved, sort of like the Incredibles movie or something. haha.

  8. The Google Cr-48 is such a lovely machine. The build is fantastic and very slick. Outside of Apple laptops, this is one of best looking portables I've seen in years. The OS is pretty interesting and has a lot of potential. It's supposed to be updated weekly, so I really need to think how I'm going to write about the software side of things. Obviously there are limitations and kinks, but that's to be expected for an OS that relies on the cloud and won't be available to most until mid-2011.

    So far so great though!

  9. Its been decided….I'm getting the G2 in the next week or so. I really think that the Mytouch 4G is cool with its front facing camera and all but I feel the G2 fits what I'm looking for. Plus I already have the old Mytouch 3G.

  10. Blizzard in the Bean!!! We are going to get anywhere between 12 and 16 inches of snow before the morning.

  11. I finally saw Toy Story 3 and The Karate Kid (new one). Iron Man 2 should be tomorrow, and hopefully The Other Guys later this week. Finally I'm catching up!! lol.

      1. I didn't cry. BUT oddly at that spot in the movie at the dump at at once, the 3D glasses made my eyes ache, causing redness, then the A/C came on and blew directly behind my glasses cause them to water and the lady in front me sprayed some nasty perfume causing my nose to run a bit, but I DIDN'T CRY.

      2. I didn't cry, but mostly that's just because I am sometimes known to be a heartless bastard who doesn't cry and I sometimes feel too logical for my own good. I knew it was a kids movie, so I knew that they weren't going to end it with toys dying in the end, although it was an extremely emotional part of the film when they were in the garbage dump, and that made me confident that no matter how bad it seemed it would be OK in the end. I did however blink a couple times (rare for me to actually do) to spread around some moisture in my eyes when the toys were realizing that Andy was looking for them, and when Andy almost couldn't let go of Woody.

Not too bad of a movie really. And it made me want to play the game again even more. Seriously, if you liked this movie I would recommend the game in a heartbeat.

      1. It's a tough loss but it didn't hurt us. All we have to do is beat the 2-13 Panthers to win the #1 seed and home field advantage.

      2. @RROD

Of course it hurts, now the pressure is on for the last game. The Saints lost to TB last year in NOLA. Anything can happen.

I was most pleased at the defense holding Atl to 7 points. D came to play.

      3. What I meant was we are still in the same position as last week with having the #1 seed with a win. Anything can happen true but the Panthers have given up a long time ago.

      4. This game just proved to me why Matt Ryan isn't an elite QB right now. Elite QBs find a way to win a close game especially at home.

      5. @Tokz

Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan? Flacco is 3-2 in postseason and goes to the playoffs every year and a Conference championship appearance. I'm amazed how this guy is passed over with the talking heads. The guy is a winner at home and on the road. Watching all the stuff last night I was amazed that nobody else drew that parallel.

      6. @smartguy

Matt Ryan is the better than Flacco. You figure that Flacco would be having monster numbers with receiving talent like Boldin, Houshmanzedh (sp?), Mason and not to mention Ray Rice as a good receiving back but he's hot one game then blows the next. At least with Matt Ryan i know what i'm getting, he's very consistent especially when he plays at home or in a dome.

      7. When it comes to QBs you have to look at THEIR numbers and not playoff records because the Ravens defense is what got them to those playoff games and not Flacco's arm. Trent Dilfer has a Superbowl ring with that Raven team so that makes Dilfer elite, right? Dan Marino is no good because he never won anything, right? Brad Johnson is also a better QB than Dan Marino because Brad won a Superbowl too, right?

      8. Peyton Manning lost 2 at home and Drew Brees lost a close game to the Falcons at home so why are they considered elite? Peyton Manning is 5-2 at home, Drew Brees is 5-2 at home, Matt Ryan is 6-1 at home so with your logic Matt Ryan is more elite than Peyton and Drew, right?

      9. with my logic yes it would but this is barely his 3rd year and your comparing him to QBs that have been in the league for years. Drew Brees has had big games in SD and NO. Peyton has many close games that he's won and he has turned that franchise around since getting there in 1998. you need to stop being so objective. Matt Ryan is on a pace of getting there compared to other young QBs he's not there yet. We have to wait what he does in the playoffs and next year.

      10. Let me be clear about something. I don't think Matt Ryan is elite, yet. However, I'm only disputing the home wins thing. You can't knock one QB for losing 1 game at home and give a pass to the "elite" QBs who have lost more games at home. That's all I'm saying. And for the last time, Peyton didn't win that Superbowl, the defense did plus he lost to the Saints in last years Superbowl. Defense is what wins Superbowls, not QBs.

      11. I can knock a QB if this is a big division game, you're at home, and it's a close game. An elite QB will adjust to what the Defense is doing. Ryan is not there yet and hasn't proven it to me as of yet and you agree now obviously that he's not an elite QB yet. Peyton has done the same thing which he has twice this season in the game against SD and Dallas but he's doing this with no running game. He still keeps his team in the game even though those defenses are gunning for him play after play. I think we saw yesterday that Matt Ryan doesn't have the capacity, yet, to carry his team like Peyton does.

Actually Rex Grossman won that Super Bowl for the Colts his 2 interceptions and 2 fumbles really didn't help.

      12. In my opinion, I don't think Brees has hit elite status either, nor Big Ben for that matter.

Peyton, yes. Favre, yes, Brady, yes… that's about all the active ones I can think of off the top of my head .

As for those close games and saying that the defense won Flacco's ring, let's face it, the games wouldn't have been so close if it weren't for the defenses. If that's the standard we're gonna go by, we have to look at all the extremely high scoring games rather than the tight spots.

And if tight spots is the standard we're gonna use, then I suppose Big Ben has proven to be elite.

      13. Brett Favre? Elite? Only 1 Superbowl win 20 years is considered elite? Also, the NFL all time interception leader should not be considered elite. And if you give me the old "of course he has the most INTs because he played the longest" excuse then isn't that the only reason he has the most TDs too?

      14. We have discussed this before.

With big positive numbers in careers that last so long, come the big negative numbers as well. Babe Ruth has the most strike-outs of anyone ever, but do we remember the Babe for that?

The person with the most picks in one game is George Blanda. If you do the research on who Blanda was and what he accomplished, you'll find that the most picks in one game stat is just a mole on his ass compared to his career achievements.

The reason I call the QB's elite that I did, is that those QB's have proven over years that a team can revolve around them alone and still be successful. Big Ben has not done that. In fact, I honestly don't think Big Ben would be as good on any other team (except for maybe the Ravens).

    1. Ha! Yeah, and if you want to get beat by the Dolphins, play them in YOUR home… or did you not see their record on the road this year? My suggestion for the 'Fins for next year is sixteen road games and none at home. That will damn near guarantee us a spot in the playoffs.

      -M

  12. I hope everyone had an excellent holiday. It was wonderful seeing my family. My mom flew back to the Philippines for more vacation earlier today, my brother is back in Orange County with his fiance's family, and my dad might be stuck here for a while since NY has been bombarded by snow. Ha! The only downer is that I have a bit of a Christmas cold. Meh.

I'll start posting a few stories later tonight. Be good everyone!

  13. Finally saw Iron Man 2 as well. I liked it, but not as a sequel to Iron Man, more as a prequel to The Avengers. It felt like it took a while to really get going anywhere, and then once it all started it was over. The Nick Fury sections felt like they took up more time than they actually did, which helped promote the Avengers feeling that I got. I liked the story overall, but I think right now I did like the first one better. I will like Iron Man's part in the Avengers movie a lot though, and I feel like he has the potential to overpower that movie because of the strong presence that RBDjr. has as Iron Man. Hopefully that doesn't happen, and that is pure speculation, but we will see one day.

    1. No, Tokz, we knew about it, but I don’t think anybody said anything about it because we are all in denial.

      -M

  14. @RROD
Until Ryan gets some post season numbers and wins without Turner he is just good. He isn't Big Ben, Brady, etc. The Ravens got better with Flacco.

If you want to compare THEIR numbers and to use the QB rating system you said was a good aggregate then Ryan is 3rd best in his division behind Freeman and Brees.

Honestly do you think he is as good as the elite QBs? Would you rank him above Rivers? Rogers?

    @Tokz
    TJ sucks.

    1. @smartguy

TJ is a good possession receiver but then again i think they are all good possession receivers. I think that's the problem with the Ravens WR corps. They don't have a deep threat.

    2. I'll say it again, I don't think Matt Ryan is elite yet. No, I don't think he's as good as the elites and the only ones I consider elite are Manning, Brady, and Brees. Rogers, Rivers, and Big Ben are not elite in my book. Especially Rivers, if he's so good then why can't he win a division with the Raiders, Broncos, and Chiefs and not to mention that the Chargers have one of the top ranked defenses too so what does that say about Rivers?

    3. Matt Ryan is more consistent from play to play than Joe Flacco, but I think Ryan has better weapons. Tokz is 100% right, the Ravens don't have a HR hitter, and I'd rather have Michael Turner than Ray Rice. The Ravens Defense is their great equalizer.

I think both will develop into very good QB's, but it's really to early to judge either of them. Neither seems like the next Tom Brady or Peyton Manning though. More likely they'll both be very solid and have good careers, but I don't think either guy's going to be elite.

      1. They both have gotten better each year it's only their 3rd year so I think they both can become elite if they continue on this pace. I thinks it's safe to say that the team winning a Superbowl means the QB is elite according to most people's logic.

      2. @RROD

Not true you can be an elite QB and not win a Super bowl, look at Dan Marino and Johnny Unitas. Also i haven't forgotten about Boldin but he's only had two good games this year and he's a possession receiver too as i mentioned earlier.

        @smartguy

I agree Ryan has better weapons but i think i'd rather have Rice than Turner.

    1. My point was that people knock certain QBs for not winning a Superbowl and gives a pass to others(Dan Marino). People anoint certain QBs as elite for the team winning a Superbowl(Big Ben) and don't anoint others as elite who's teams also won a Superbowl(Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Eli Manning). That's twisted logic if I've ever seen it.

    2. I'm sorry, but Dan Marino sucks. Yes, I said it, because he did. If he wanted to be remembered as a great quarterback, then he should have retired after facing the 49ers in the Super Bowl. Instead, he stayed with the Dolphins and began a long, slow crawl to a mediocre existence until his last season becoming nothing more than a zombie-like, empty shell of the athlete he used to be. Today, this would be known as "Brett Favre-ing".

Yes, Marino has some impressive hall-of-fame worthy numbers and all, but after his surgery, he was just not the same (if you don't believe me, watch the film for his last three seasons). And that is a shame since Don Shula spent so many years and resources building the team around Marino with little to show for it.

At the end of the day, football is a team sport and there is only one goal. It's not about one guy on the team or personal statistics. It's about the ring. Without it, you're just like everybody else without a ring: a loser. Team owners spend hundereds of millions of dollars just to place their hands on the Lombardi Trophy because that is the purpose of football; it is the goal.

So, yes, consider this a knock on Marino because he did not do his job. He did not win a Super Bowl and that is what he was hired to do. Records and statistics be damned. You either win as a team or lose as a team, individual be damned.

      -M

      1. I disagree on a few of your statements.

First off, a career cannot be judged by the smaller percentage. In Marino's case, you have to examine the whole thing and not just the last years you remember.

Also, Marino is from Pittsburgh. He went to Central Catholic High School and then went to Pitt which is literally right up the street from Central Catholic. The man is a true Yinzer…. so I got his back.

The other point you made that I disagree with… the owners' goal is to make money from their investments, like any other business. The Lombardi just puts more asses in seats at the stadiums and gets the team more TV time. This is why the owners care about the trophy, it makes them money.

      2. In addition, you already properly pointed the finger at Shula.

_"Don Shula spent so many years and resources building the team around Marino with little to show for it."-

        Guess what?… he failed.

Marino never had a worthy O-Line (which is where the passing game starts) and his defense achieved mediocre status at best.

In another addition, other QB greats that hail from the city of Pittburgh:

        Joe Montana

        Jim Kelly

        And….

        wait for it….

        JOHNNY "MOTHER FU**IN'" UNITAS!!!!!!

      3. I knew I was going to ruffle your feathers with my harsh comment about your hometown homeboy.

Look, Marino is a good guy. He's really nice and contributes a lot to the community. He's a great neighbor and a humanitarian. I just wanted him to retire sooner rather than later so the Dolphins could have started looking sooner for their next franchise QB and not linger on aimlessly while trading away valuable draft picks in the process. In my blatantly ignorant opinion, Marino was good up until the Super Bowl season (give or take another season). After that, he started to decline. Things really took a nose dive after his surgery. He was terrified of getting hit and you could tell. When a football player becomes afraid to take a hit, that's when he's got to seriously reexamine his future in the sport. I think Marino would have been judged better if he would have retired when he should have. I guess hindsight is 20/20.

It's true that the owners want the trophy to make the money (and the bragging rights as well), but the players play for the win. A real football player could give a crap about money or fame or whatever. No real football player plays for the AFC or NFC championship title or the division title, they play because they want to win a Super Bowl. Now a days it may be different because of the prima donnas and the fact that money has blurred the lines of reality, but I guarantee you that there are those old-school animals out there that would play football even if you didn't pay them anything because they love to play the game and they want to win. Granted, these players are becoming more and more of a rarity, but they are the true football players and all they care about is winning.

Lastly, yes, I do blame Shula because ultimately, it was his team, he had control of it and he should have let Dan go or find someone else sooner. But instead, (Shula being Shula) he believed in Marino and was totally loyal to the man. He did everything in his power to build the team around him, but ultimately it failed to get them to the big game again. I respect the man for his dedication to loyalty, but I am disheartened that it did not lead to anything greater than personal statistics.

  15. @N8
I consider Brees elite. First QB in history to complete 400 passes in a season multiple times. Not to mention his body of work the last 5 years.

Big Ben is elite as well. 2 rings and the 2nd required a game winning drive.

    @RROD
Those scrubs aren't elite. A championship doesn't put you in that class if you were mediocre before the fact. Johnson and Dilfer both benefitted from D and in Johnson's case Gruden knew the Raiders.

    1. In my opinion, you have to do more than just that kind of stuff. If the Brees example you mentioned is the status quo, then the list of elite QB's in history would be very long and consist of dudes none of us would ever refer to as elite.

In the Ben example, he got lucky. Not "Phil Rivers lucky", but lucky enough in one game.

I think both of them are on their way (Brees more so than Ben), but not quite Joe Montana or John Elway yet.

Skill positions are so awesome to debate. I'll post a link when I get home about that 400 completions stat. The list of guys on it is quite short and I was surprised. My GF gave me $700 for Christmas to buy clothes and shoes and I'm being dragged across the metro area right now

    1. I may have generalized a generalization to the point of miscommunication.

I meant as in players who broke ground. Did something nobody else did yet. That list is rather long at this point.

Are they ground breaking, yes. Does that alone make them among the elite?… no.

Maybe my definition of elite is more conservative.

      1. @N8

To attain the greatness that a past great has done puts you in the discussion of being elite. To trend where the great players have makes you elite.

Anyway, here is that article I mentioned. The first bullet point is what I referenced:
        http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/16982/

If you consider your definition conservative would you call Bradshaw elite? I have my judgments on him but will defer to you on this. One of the greatest? Right place at the right time? Good enough? I'm not picking him because he plays for the Steelers but simply because of a quote I heard from Jimmy Johnson about him. "Terry Bradshaw's career quarterback rating is a 76. That's wrong, his rating was 4"

      2. No, I don't consider Bradshaw elite, but I consider him groundbreaking (good example, amazed I didn't think of him myself).

He was one of the first if not the first to make the QB running game a serious threat. The man was tough as nails, broke sack attempts, but his passing left alot to be desired. Hell, his greatest passing accomplishment ever was a botched throw that was "immaculately" recovered by an unintended receiver at exactly the right place at exactly the right time.

However, the Steelers at that time didn't need much more than him. As long as he could get 10 points on the board, we'd win the game given that our D was CRAZY at the time.

So, to answer your questions specifically in order:

        No. Yes. Yes.

        My opinion.

      3. I would agree entirely with that assessment. I'm also willing to wager that practicing against 1st string D made him a better QB as far as trying to look off defenders.

      4. If I were him in those days, I would have certainly been more afraid of practice than I would have been of any actual game I was playing. So that would help with the nerves as well.

I mean, the guy practiced against "Mean" Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham, and John Stallworth (to name a few)… CHRIST DUDE!!!! These are the people nightmares are made of.

  17. I'm a little late to the party, but congratulations Iceman! You were asking for advice on being a dad, which I can't give (trust me when I say I wish I could), but I can say this- DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN to make sure your wife is as healthy as she can be so that the pregnancy goes well and full term. If you don't already have one, invest in a blood pressure cuff to keep at home so your wife can monitor her BP regularly, for starters.

    1. Thans, Redd. I'm kind of worried about the early stages of the pregnancy myself. I try to hope for the best but plan for the worst. I'll look up those blood pressure cuffs you mentioned, but my wife doesn't suffer from high blood pressure or anything like that, thank God.

And to make the matter resonate even more, none of these QB’s would be where they are if it weren’t for their O-lines and training staff.

If I were a QB makinng the money that top tier QB’s make, my O-line would never pay for a meal or a drink as long as they were with me. All of them would get cars for Christmas as well.

And then I would remind them “Yo, if I get injured out there, I won’t be able to afford this stuff anymore”.
