Activision CEO Bobby Kotick recently took a jab at rival Electronic Arts, accusing the company of killing the unique cultures of the development studios it acquires. EA has responded with some awesomely catty comments. VP of corporate communications Jeff Brown told Gamasutra:
Kotick’s relationship with studio talent is well documented in litigation. His company is based on three game franchises –one is a fantastic persistent world he had nothing to do with; one is in steep decline; and the third is in the process of being destroyed by Kotick’s own hubris.
Man, this is getting good. I’m hoping that the trash talking between Activision and EA will result in a dance competition or an MMA fight between company execs. The event could be held at The ESA’s Nite to Unite charity dinner. It would be the most entertaining event of the year!
What do you think of all the mud slinging between EA and Activision?
What is the steep decline one? WoW and GH are the only 2 I can peg.
EA needs to stick up for themselves, good for them
i think it's pretty funny. what happens now that the bully has been stood up to??
@smartguy
i think it's WoW, the decline is GH and the process of being destroyed is CoD but i could be wrong.
@Tokz
Yeah WoW is the money machine he had nothing to do with, the decline could be Tony Hawk and the third I can think of is GH. I could easily put CoD in the hubris spot though.
@smartguy
oh yeah i forgot about Tony Hawk.
@Tokz
Yeah those were the ones I was thinking of. I wanna keep hearing these people take jabs at each other.
@bsu
me too! I really want that dance off to happen!
I think this is good for the industry, it works in hip-hop why not video games?
@ Big Blak
You just want Bobby Kotick to get shot by some deranged Sims player.
I seriously don;t understand Kotick's motivations here. The guy gets enough bad press as it is. You'd think somebody on the payroll would advise him to shut his pie hole.
@Big Blak Is there going to be a gaming gang war between SF and LA?
@Nightshade;
Never underestimate the disconnect from reality that big money and even bigger egos have on these people. A lot of these company CEO's do not live in the same world as we do, therefore, they believe a different set of rules apply.
The first reference in Mr. Brown's comeback is obviously World of Warcraft, the second one I think is Guitar Hero and the last one is probably Call of Duty. I wish there was a way to know for sure, though.
@N8;
That deranged Sims player your talking about is going to turn out to be my wife.
