Square Enix has sent out a reminder with details on the Final Fantasy XIV Collector’s Edition. Available now for an MSRP of $74.99, the collector’s edition includes:
- Eight days early access prior to the release of the Standard Edition
- The exclusive in-game item Onion Helm item
- A behind-the-scenes DVD featuring insight from the development team
- A Final Fantasy XIV branded Security Token
- A Final Fantasy XIV branded Travel Journal
- A voucher to receive a personalized right of passage certificate
- A buddy pass to invite a friend to play free for a limited time
It looks like a great package…but I have no idea how Square Enix expects to compete with the likes of Planet Michael and Hello Kitty Online. *snicker* Seriously, I’m tempted to pick this up. If you’re tempted then why not click on that handy Amazon link in the first sentence of this article (*wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*).
Here are some more pictures of the included goodies.
when is this available???
@tokz_21 Let me fix that part.
@rpad
please? because i would be interested in this but i know it's not available for North America yet. also i still have to finish 13. :(
@tokz_21 It's fixed. :P The collector's edition is available now.
@rpad
not for ps3! :(
Cataclysm will bury this game.
Meh. I'm a pretty big FF fan, but I really have no desire to jump into the MMO's.
I wanted this game today, but since all my plans for a new pc failed (ugh, hubby lol), then I have to wait. So now I have to have all my XI buddies to get everything rolling in my absence. I might still have to wait til gd ps3 release.
Cataclysm won't bury squat, except for it's own players who will play it for a month, then beat it and complain there's nothing left. :P :P :P
Oh and Rpad, if you do join XIV, you should totally join the Selbina server and be in my group ^^
@cami
Cataclysm will own this game. Easy lol.
@smartguy Everyone knows Cataclysm will outsell this game. I don't think it matters. Square Enix has a loyal FF MMO following and will surely make money with FFXIV.
WoW has an ever more loyal following :) lol
I really think Cata will be great. They are working very hard with it.
@smartguy Yes, but I'm not sure why that matters. To me it's as silly as people arguing about PS3 vs. Xbox 360.
@Ray
More of a running banter between Cami, Sandrock and I.
@smartguy Let me know who wins. :P
Haha I love our cracks at each other's mmo's. It's fun. Lord I know Cata will win in sales…. I just hate how they generalized the jobs that way almost everyone can tank/heal/debuff/buff/dps each other >_> :P
@Cami
Not so. My Paladin tank is the best tank in the game….arguably the best healer and melee dps to boot. Though I think Rogues are now the best at melee since they have tricks of the trade as a baseline skill. What that does is send 60% of their aggro generated to the player of their choice. Most often it is a tank. With that skill they are pulling 15k dps on bosses. Not bad.
I hate how deliberate FF11 is though. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to get everything the first time through but I feel that things take a bit too long. Aion was guilty of that. If you have never played it, let me just say that crafting something is its own game. Takes forever.
@Smartguy
Oh no, I played WoW. Got to 72 and said "Snore". I did enchant and tailoring. But I watched all my friends on other servers both horde and alliance say the same thing "all that's left is rep grinding, dailies, and this rediculous achievment system". And I know that rogues can prolly out dmg someone. But it's the principle: every job can practically do all 4 major functions. Not who over powers who on what. Which over generalizes things, and you gave a prime example. You tank/heal/dps. In my opinion that's too much. I just think the older WoW mighta been the better option. But too many people Q_Q over what they couldn't do.
I know XI was way too deliberate when trying to obtain good, rare weapons/armor/items. It too SE a good 5 yrs to figure that out. But in some ways it was an incredible feeling on what you could achieve. It felt really good to be able to tag and kill a huge boss before the other linkshells could get to it, who thought they were the best linkshell on the server. It felt good to take the time to strategize a big boss that took 2 hrs to take down. Crafting almost felt like a job in and of itself too on XI. I'm a social person by nature, and I loved exping. It forced you to be around other people. And it was fun.
Idk I could defend and despise different parts of both mmo's. In the end, I felt XI was the better option for me b/c I felt it had more meat. But everyone's different amirite? lol.
@Cami
A 2 hour boss fight is too long. 15 minutes is fine. I don't think a 2 hour fight takes more skill.
I don't think you get the job system. There are classes and each class can focus on a specialization. You can only be active in one specialization at a time. A tank cannot heal and tank simultaneously. The differences lie in the inherent strengths and weaknesses of each. A discipline priest is not good for a paladin tank in a 5 man dungeon but is fine in a raid.
