Originally, I thought this was going to be another weekend of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, but a funny thing happened on the way to Friday — another Square Enix RPG! I’m not going to say what it is now, but you’ll be able to figure it out from this article’s images. For the most part, I’m really enjoying it, but there are portions that piss me off. Some of it so 1993: you’ll encounter a boss, but won’t be powerful enough to defeat it, so you have to run around like a dick for an hour to level up or search for a weapon that makes things easier. While JRPG veterans are used to this kind of thing, I don’t think it will fly with younger gamers.
Anyway, let me know what’s on your weekend playlist when you have a moment.
I guess that's one thing I never really liked about RPG's. Leveling up, while sometimes fun, is a very boring thing to do. Period. I see a lot of value from leveling up, and sometimes just thinking about the rewards later make it go by quicker. But in games I usually do not enjoy simply leveling up for extended periods of time in order to progress, more like what it sounds like you will doing in your JRPG.
I need to beat Afro Samurai at least the first time before the end of the day because it is due back by midnight.
Then I will be playing Halo: Reach on legendary. I'm sure everyone is well ahead of me in this game right now so I need to pick it up a bit and make my way through the campaign. I am starting on legendary though which is why it is taking me so long. I played some of the multi and I am still getting used to the control setup (I liked Halo 3's better, and I found one setting that is close) and weapon/vehicle selection.
Plants vs. Zombies is still eating up some of my time, and it still is too bad that there are only 200G to go after.
I might have to check out Blacklight Tango Down later today or this weekend as well, I think it will easily be worth the $4.01 I paid for it.
I picked up NHL 11 on Wednesday and I’ll be enjoying the sheer awesomeness of that. Let me go into detail about the awesomeness:
When I first loaded the menu, I was given the pleasure of hearing Europe’s epic track “The Final Countdown”. As I was creating my pro, the song switched Pantera’s epic “Walk”. Needless to say, the default soundtrack for that game totally kicks ass. I was also serenaded by the Dropkick Murpheys’ “Shipping Out To Boston” at one point.
I say “default soundtrack” because you can set up your own playlists to play during certain parts of the game. Like when you score a goal, they score a goal, someone gets a penalty, intermissions, off-plays, etc. Needless to say, I have created full playlists for all categories that include such hockey anthems as Gary Glitter’s “Rock n Roll #2?, “I want to ride the zamboni”, a bunch of AC/DC, and several others.
I less than 3 hockey games… PLEASE someone pick this up for 360 an play hockey with me.
I also played the demo for
Gears of War…. I mean Quantum Theory.Wasn't impressed.

@ Big Blak
I too have been waiting for this thread since Wednesday so I could rant about how awesome NHL 11 is.
Halo Reach for me at some point. It is actually fun.
Also I just dropped $230 on the Move = 2 Motion controllers, 1 Navigation controller, Sports Championship and Eyepet. So I'll be spending a bit of time with that.
No idea what I'm gonna be playing. I do need to wander over to Sandrock's place and finish Splinter Cell: Conviction, but he's gonna be nose deep in Reach soo…Mebbie I'll give Street Fighter IV a go, we picked up a new copy not longg ago for $10.
Tanking Lich King tomorrow.
Reach campaign.
After a few drinks tonight I might buy the Move. We'll see.

@Big Blak
HAHA. You know how I know you're gay? Because you like Coldplay.
… thanks for reminding me, guys… I need to go get my chest waxed.
@Bsukenyan, Sandrock & Smartguy;
I want to try to get a quartet together for a Halo Reach campaign on Saturday (or even Sunday) if any of you guys are interested. Let me know what time works for you guys. My only thing on Saturday is watching the Hurricanes play Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. (I mean, c'mon, I have to have SOMETHING to gloat to N8 about). I'm playing tonight with a friend IRL that invited me to his game with two other buddies that haven't even touched the game yet. I'll be sending you all a message over XBL to try to coordinate something.
