What Are You Playing This Weekend?

After hopping around Asia for a few weeks, adjusting to life in America, and combating jet lag (it’s winning), I’m ready to resume my gaming life! I’ve played a bunch of “Witch Hunt” for Dragon Age: Origins and will likely give it another run or two this weekend. Aside from that, there are a bunch of PSP games I want to play. My copy of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep arrived yesterday and I’m excited to jump into that world again. My PSP Memory Stick has copies of Disgaea Infinite and Cladun waiting to be played too.

  1. Hopefully I'll get back into Alan Wake. I started it last weekend and never finished it since the only times I had to play were dedicated to the Bioware DLC's, or were times when my son was around and I thought that a horror/thriller probably wasn't appropriate to play around a 3 year old. That and for some reason I've been conking out really early the last few nights. The week before I couldn't sleep at all. WTF?!?

  2. I will hopefully be finishing up Alan Wake here soon. I just got to Episode 4 last night and I want to make some good headway tonight. I'm debating getting the DLC right now, so we will see how long it takes me to make it through the regular story right now. Then hopefully off to Halo: Wars again, and some more Plants vs. Zombies while waiting for Halo: Reach.

    I'm also off to get a suit later today just in case one day I manage to get an interview for a professional job I have something to wear. I will be glad to finally have the suit, but I would rather be playing Alan Wake. Also perhaps I will go to the BSU football game tomorrow night, an N64 friend of mine has been bugging me to go to this one for a while so I might give in.

  3. i'm still working on FF13 but i'm on Chapter 9 now. down to the nitty gritty. oh thank god. Playing has made me realize how frustrated i can get with RPGs at times. My gf leaves for OH for business on Sunday so i should be able to finish it this week. I can't wait to move on.

  4. I've been trying to beat RE5 on professional lately and this weekend is the last weekend to do that before Reach comes out. Only problem is that Wesker keeps whooping my ass.

  6. Nothing. I have tests all next week. Also there isn't really anything out. I rented Mafia 2 last week and beat it in 2 days (one of the days was 16ish hours though). It was a much better game than GTA and I can't really say why…..I just liked it more.

  9. There's a game on my iPhone someone suggested to me that I've been hooked on since I downloaded it called CastleCraft. It's like Civ Rev, but with dragons and mages and that kind of stuff. I'll be doing some of that.

    Maybe some Madden, and since I got all the achievements in DR2:C0… I may just be waiting for the full game to come out to get back in to zombie slaughter.

  10. I just beat Halo Wars and for some strange reason… I now really want to play Starcraft 2. Oh well, no time for that. I need to build a good PC first and Reach is right around the corner. I'm going to spend this weekend getting some more achievements in Halo Wars and possibly the Resident Evil 5 DLC with my wife.

    @Sandrock, Bsukenyan and anyone else who is getting Reach on launch day;

    I would like to do the 4-man co-op campaign if any of you guys are up for it. Send me a message if you would like to do this next week. We would have to settle on a time and date.

    Sorry I meant to message you over XBL earlier today, but I should be able to play some Halo: Wars on Legendary sometime this weekend. I am just trying to finish Alan Wake before Sunday when it is due back so I can finish up with that mostly before Reach (which I will be ordering shortly, so hopefully it actually shows up at a decent time on launch day…using the links and getting launch day shipping).

    I would definitely be interested in playing Reach 4 man co-op, but I do have a night class on Tuesday night unfortunately. Other than that I will be going in to work with very little sleep so that I can play this game at a time when everyone else will be online.

    Also, every time I play it I feel the urge to go back to playing Age of Empires. The control setup is so basic I actually crave more options and hotkeys to use during RTS play.

    I'm game, but I want to beat it on legendary first and the achievement for that is single player now. It shouldn't take me long though and I get my schedule for next week today. I'll let you know what days are good for me in about 6 hours when I get off work.

    P.S. All of the Reach achievements are viewable on Waypoint now.

    I played the demo and I thought it was a better game than GTA as well. I might buy it when it gets cheaper.

    Yeah as soon as Mafia 2 comes down just a little bit I will buy it. It already has more downloadable missions but I was not going to buy them for a rented game.

    Also have you played much on Limbo. I love it but I am STUCK. I know what I need to do but it just a matter of timing it properly.

    I think I will have to wait on that at least until after playing through on Legendary with someone else. I only just recently got the Halo 3 legendary achievement when I played through with Iceman.

    I have played up to to point where the spider chases you the third time, there is a log that has to be jumped at the right time. I only did It once then died right afterwords lol.

  22. I've got to say in all honesty, this fall's video game line up isn't doing it for me. I've never been a big Halo or CoD guy. The motion control stuff really isn't doing it for me. Other than the annual sports games, there's really only 3 games I want to buy; Fable III, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II & Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

  23. I will say that I'm intrigued by Fallout: New Vegas. But it's Obsidian. I always WANT to like their games and always find myself being disappointed. So I'm really just very wary of anything they do at this point.

  24. WoW Cataclysm. That will do it for me this fall. I might buy Reach this week. I'm hoping they did a good job with the story. Otherwise I don't know what else is coming out this fall on my consoles other than NBA 2k11 and maybe Castlevania.

    Yeah that part took a few tries. I just stand there and jump as soon as it steps on it. I am past that though and I won't ruin anything for you by telling you what I'm stuck on. Sometimes I will intentionally die just to see what would happen if I didn't make it through.

  26. Beats me, I think I might actually finish the story to White Knight Chronicles. I just beat Operation: Anchorage for F3, so I might start the Pitt too.

    Don't worry about Halo Wars, it's not a big deal. If I see you online, I'll send you a message. You go a head and finish up Alan Wake. A word of warning, though; The Signal DLC, although short, is significantly harder than the stand-alone game. Less ammo, a lot more bad guys and ambushes up the wazoo. You're going to die a few times before you can see the crappy "ending".

    Well, it looks like the consensus is that we want to beat the game first before doing the 4-man co-op. That suits me fine since I probably won't get much time to play on Tuesday through Thursday since I have to work (and I have a wife that needs attention). So Friday night, any time Saturday and Sunday is good for me, with the exception of Saturday at around 7:30 p.m. since UM is playing Pittsburg and I would never pass up an opportunity to humiliate N8 in college AND professional football (plus; I hate Wannstedt).

    @Smartguy;

    Will do, but I'll have to build a decent rig before I can play Starcraft 2 and that may not be for a while since my wife and I recently closed on our house. I went from rich to poor in a matter of hours! If you do get Reach, let me know so you can join Sandrock, Bsukenyan and myself next weekend (hopefully). Oh, and if you read the book "Fall of Reach", you're going to be disappointed in the story. If you didn't then you may like the narrative. Just make sure to keep your expectations low.

    Yeah I read it. That is disappointing.

    I'm sure you can play SC2 on your MacBook. Just turn down the reflections. It was running kind of choppy on my i7 until they released a gfx update. Either way, it's a fun game. I honestly bought it just to do singleplayer.

    As far as Reach goes, I will get it but I might not play it until Thursday. I have some tests this week. (i'm so over school. so close to 150 hours though….)

    Do you have any room in your schedule for a college bet? If Pitt wins, I will eat my words and sport the team's logo for a week, but if the 'Canes win, you have to change your Gravatar to The "U" for a week.

    My four-year-old MacBook struggled to run Assassin's Creed (the first one) in Boot Camp about a year ago to the point where it was almost unplayable. I had to take out Call of Duty 4 just to free up some space. I seriously doubt that it can handle Starcraft 2. I'll get around to playing it eventually, but I want to get some other games out of the way. Plus, I want to build a new PC rig when I get the cash. What better way to break in some new hardware than a kick-ass RTS?

    Can't this week, Steelers play RROD's Falcons on Sunday and I already made that wager. You also might be rocking a Bills avatar.

    However, if we rock the avatars the following week based on the results of the college game this week, I could do that.

    I'm not on Facebook, but I'll get my wife to log in to look at it. I'm going to try to get home early on Tuesday night, but I still have work Monday through Friday, which is why the weekends work best for me. I'll drop you a line on XBL when I check it out so we can set a date/time. It looks like Bsukenyan's Reach-themed console (along with the game) is going to be delayed a few days, anyway.
