In the latest string of iPhone-headed-to-Verizon rumors, Bloomberg has cited two sources that claim Apple’s wildly popular super phone is headed for America’s largest mobile network. Here’s the quote:
Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile-phone company, will start selling Apple Inc.’s iPhone next year, ending AT&T Inc.’s exclusive hold on the smartphone in the U.S., two people familiar with the plans said.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve become immune to these rumors. While I’d love to have a fully functional iPhone 4 on any major mobile network that’s not AT&T, these rumors are becoming a bit much.
How do you ladies and gents feel about the latest iPhone/Verizon rumor? You think this one is legit? Are you still dreaming about an iPhone on a superior network? Or are you tired of being teased?
Honestly I've grown tired of these rumors too. Although 2011 matches the original rumor of a 5 year exclusive plan, between that and Verizon rolling out LTE around 2011 it all seems to make sense. I imagine we'll see a Verizon iphone with 4G in June 2011.
I know I'll be ready to ditch AT&T when the time comes.
@Shockwave562 The original contract would have ended in 2012. The deal could have changed considerably over the years, so who knows?
F this company. Verizon has had $700 for damn near two weeks of mine. They charged an ETF when they weren't supposed to. Not once, not twice, but three times. Now I am playing hell getting them to credit me back. I'm getting the "you don't have an account with us so we have to mail you a check". F that. I never received a bill either. This is stealing, and I will not support a company who thinks it is alright to just charge me for no reason and not have the decency to refund me in a prompt manner.
ATT might be shitty, but at least they resolve any billing error I bring up. That to me is more valuable than a damn 2meg EVDO network.
/end rant.
@smartguy Email the Consumerist!
@smartguy – that doesn't surprise me, unfortunately I've heard a lot of bad stories about Verizon bills and customer service. Fight it!
@Ray
Great idea!
@shock
You'll live this part then, they won't review my claim until 07/08! My bank is going to let me claim fraud so I can be reimbursed lol. Then my bank and VZ will have to sort things out.
Losing interest as time goes on. I would still like to have one of the iPhone 4's on Verizon's network, but Win Mobile 7 is going to be out first and be more tempting to me at the time. And even if I don't go with a Win Mobile 7 phone, a blackberry might be tempting me at the time anyways.
What I want more right now is the new iPod touches to have cameras on them, then I wouldn't care about the iPhone as much. If all failed though I could just get an iPhone 3 or something.
ps- my iPod touch has been running really slow lately. There is a lot of delay and lag whenever I have been doing anything on it lately.
@bsukenyan Unless RIM pulls off some kind of sorcery with BlackBerry OS 6, I don't see why anyone would want to get one of its phones unless it was a corporate requirement.
@Ray
They just seem to be a pretty solid phone I guess, that's more what I think of when I see one. Yes it is very business like, but I know enough people who have one that really like theirs and say that they are really nice.
@bsukenyan The phones are well made, but the OS is archaic. Right now, the only reason I can see for owning one is for the excellent secure Exchange access it provides. It's much better as a corporate phone than a consumer one.
@Ray
I guess that does make sense that the OS is archaic. I mostly just know that everyone who has one here at school that I have talked to never wants a different phone again.
