My friend Jason asked me an interesting question about Google TV: “who will be the first console to get GTV built in…hmmm?” Well, Sony already announced that it will offer televisions with Google TV built in, so if it came to any console, wouldn’t it be more likely to hit the PlayStation 3? This is total speculation of course, but how cool would it be to have a service like Google TV on your console? I’d go for it in a heartbeat. How about you? Can you picture Kaz Hirai introducing a Google executive at Sony’s E3 2010 press conference? The two of them could give a Microsoft a Degeneration-X crotch chop. “Are you ready?”

If it's coming with Sony tv's already. I don't see why it wouldn't be coming to the PS3, as well. It's not like a lot of consumers are going to go out and buy a new tv just for Gtv. They already have like a 20 million systems sold. If you can just convice customers to use this on their pre-existing tv's with some free content it will work. I can also see how they can plan on using this to possibly charge for the their premium services if they decide come out with later on the ps3.
Are these tvs bluetooth capable? I'd hope so.
@tokz_21 Well, not everyone that has a PS3 has a Sony television. I'm partial to Samsung televisions and I'm due for a new set this year. If it happened, I would prefer having Google TV on my PS3 and buying a new Samung TV.
@smartguy I believe Bluetooth and WiFi are part of the standard Google TV spec.
@rpad
well my statement didn't mean to infer that you needed both a sony tv and a ps3 to use it. If newer sony tv's are coming out with it that's kool for new owners, but sony can capitalize on people who can't afford new tv's but have a ps3 by bring the Gtv service to the ps3's.
Google TV searches your channels??? As in cable television channels? Because I seriously doubt that would work where I live. My cable does not provide any digital info. To see whats on or going to be on you have to change to channel 12 and wait for your channel to scroll past and even then you only get to see what is on for the next 1 1/2 hours. When I hit info on any channel I get "no data" When I was on a different service in a different city I got programming info and channel info.
So I guess Google TV would be the same as me browsing the internet for a show. And even then its rare that you find any site with full episodes of what you are looking for.
I could see Google TV being part of Sony's Premium PSN services.
@tokz_21 Agreed, which is why I was speculating about it coming to PS3.
@SlickyFats You don't have digital cable in your area? Or did your provider give you a sucky box?
A-ha! Being part of PSN Premium would be terribly interesting and very smart. Sony would have a nice feature to justify the cost. Google would have (potentially) millions of PS3 owners to serve ads to.

They guy that owns the company was out at my house replacing some connections after the switch over (yes he is one of the techs also) and I was talking to him and he had said they switched us over to digital a while before it was mandatory. Our cable company doesn't offer/support set top boxes. You get whatever your TV can reach. Our highest channel is 78.
@SlickyFats Not to sound patronizing, but growing up and living in urban areas for most of my life has me totally fascinated with your situation.
@Ray
Well you'll like this. When I first signed up for cable and internet with them and I got my first bill for internet and my account number was 6. That's it just 6.
