Boy Genius Report has posted a bunch of screens of an early version of RIM’s BlackBerry 6.0 software. The site claims to have seen the OS in action. BlackBerry fans will want to check it out, as the OS looks like a much-needed advancement. While RIM is still king in the business world, its OS is laughably crude compared to modern, consumer-oriented operating systems iPhone OS, Android, and WebOS. Meanwhile, RIM’s competitors have made significant strides in the enterprise space.
BlackBerry 6.0 is expected to launch on a new phone this summer.
If you get a chance to check out the screens, I’d love to know what you think. Will BlackBerry 6.0 be enough for RIM to stay competitive in the consumer space? Or will the company continue to get trounced in the consumer market while slowly losing ground in the business space?
I need a new phone and my gfs gf (haha) has a BB Bold for $100. I want it but I also want the Nexus 1, no I mostly want to have the Andriod Os in my phone. Decisions, decisions. The BB 6.0 is looking sweet!
Sadly I fully intend on leaving my Blackberry in the near future. I would love to just have OS 5 at this point. My Bold 9000 only has 4.6.0.304. AT&T Doesn't let you update the OS. I have tried doing some stuff they suggested over at Crackberry but it just didn't work out well.
So the OS 6 update again means nothing to me.
I think I'm sold on WinPhon7 at this point. I like the social integration it offers and the layout looks more to my liking.

I'm sure you've seen this already, but Amazon is now offering their Kindle service on PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad. How long do you think it will take Apple to pull the app from their market?
@sandrock
kindle app has been up since Xmas that I know of.
@ Sandrock
Probably around the same time MS will let you use a non-proprietary HDD on the 360.
Has anyone used the flashdrive on the 360 yet?
@N8R
They even sell a proprietary flash drive for $60 now.
@smartguy
Funny thing is, I have a flashdrive sitting around my room with nothing on it and I still haven't bothered to see how that turned out. I just don't see the point unless you are taking it to a friends house.
@Sandrock
I have a friend who has to play XBL over an aircard, and he still brings his damn mem card and or hdd with him whenever he comes over. He has an 8gb flashdrive!
I'm just real curious to see if it works as intended.
@ Sandrock
That's disgusting… but they do it because they can. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't do it if I was them.
@ Smartguy
I'm curious too… but I don't see why it wouldn't work as intended.
@N8R
I'm more or less interested if it formats and takes over your whole flashdrive similar to how time machine took over my whole external hdd.
@ Smartguy
Ahhh… good question. My wager says it does.
@Smartguy
I think you are able to choose how much room it takes up, but I'm not sure if it will format all of the memory or not.
