Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is arguably the most skilled boxer in the world today, but the idiotic things that come out of his mouth often overshadow his brilliant skills. Questioning — rightfully so — why Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao would pass on a $25-million payday over drug testing, Mayweather compared his efforts to bring stringent blood testing to boxing to the civil rights struggles of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. Mayweather recently said:
It’s sort of the same stance Martin Luther King and Malcolm X made, so we could have freedoms, so everybody could tell the world that we’re equal. The only thing I’m saying is that we are equal. So if you’re not on nothing and I’m not on nothing, then let’s go take the test. That’s all I’m saying.
Wow. Just…wow.
He has a good point. I agree that he's taking a stand for tougher testing standards for PED's in boxing but he's not like MLK or Malcolm X. This was the most horrible comparison for him to make. It's not like boxers are their own race/ethincity that are being discriminated against. Once again Money Mayweather lets his ego get the best of him.
Okay, since respect for the black man has popped up, I myself have a new found respect for black men.
I'm a whiteboy and I actually grew up in a pretty racially equal environment. Even then, there were and are some things that were never made clear to me. Over the weekend, I saw the HBO documentary "Good Hair".
MY GOD!!!!
I had no idea how many women put painfully bad chemicals in their hair, nor did I have any comprehension of how much a weave costs. I'm not saying it's just a black thing, but when I started looking around at the women in my community and thinking back to all the awesome black women I have known…
MY GOD!!!!
Like 90% of all black women I've met either had a weave or a perm.
My hat is off to any man who lives with a black woman. My wife is so low maintenance by all standards, I wouldn't be able to keep up.
(I sincerely hope this didn't come off as racist, I really had the opposite of intentions).
@N8R My fiance gets her hair chemically straightened (I always tease her because she has to straighten it so that she can go get it done) but it is time consuming and COSTLY!!!!!! I thought my video games take some money, but she easily drops $100 to get it done. Fortunately she doesn't get it done too often (like once every month or two) but it is still expensive.
How was the movie though?? I have been wanting to see it but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
@ N8R
I don't think your racist you would just have no idea unless you lived with a black woman
