AT&T and Verizon Kiss and Make Up

Phoenix Wright slider

The legal dispute between AT&T and Verizon over the latter’s television commercials has been dropped. According to Gizmodo, AT&T has dropped the lawsuit. Here are the legal scribblings:

IT IS HEREBY STIPULATED AND AGREED by and between Plaintiff/Counterclaim Defendant Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless (“Verizon Wireless”) and Defendant/Counterclaim Plaintiff AT&T Mobility LLC (“AT&T”) that pursuant to Rule 41(a) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure: (a) Verizon Wireless’s claims against AT&T in the above- captioned action are hereby dismissed without prejudice, and (b) AT&T’s counterclaims against Verizon Wireless in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed without prejudice.

*sigh* What a stupid waste of money. In my silly dreams, I’m begging AT&T to hit my donation button instead of spending money on its next stupid lawsuit…or maybe it can use some money to make its network not suck.

  1. You know what's funny RPad? during the course of these commercials I've had about 10-15 friends (who aren't tech savvy) try to tell me the iPhone has no coverage over the us.

When I tell them that's 3G not Edge they get a blank stare on their face. I guess a lot of people were confused by the advertising. I've had to explain several times the difference between the 2.

  2. Still doesn't mean Verizon wasn't accurate.

Regardless, it was nice to see companies actually competing. Those stupid Alltel commercials don't count.

  3. I would imagine Apple would have wanted Verizon. Apple enjoys being the best and they can only do it on the best network

  4. @sandrock – hmmm, I figured you might say something like that. See I'm well informed which is why I own Mac machines only. I don't think I'd ever buy a PC again because I'm not ignorant.

  5. @Ray – I hope whoever they had that called off that deal gets slapped by someone in the company whenever he walks into a room. He doesn't even need to be fired, just a non-retalitory slap from whomever he is in the room with, even the janitors.

    *SLAP!*

    "Okay, I deserved that."

  6. Verizon is just as greedy and asinine as ATT. ATT was just a bit short sighted and hoped to get a leg up on Verizon with the Iphone. Had ATT known about the crazy success the AppStore would be…I'm sure Apple would have went with T-Mobile because ATT would have wanted a big chunk of the pie.

  7. @Ray

Better is a relative term to be used in the case of network quality. Verizon works well around here, but ATT is just a tad better. I have to wonder though….if more and more people started using VZ network for data where I live…would the network then be so much more reliable? It's very likely it would be just as bad as ATT.

I'm way more critical of these wireless companies now that I pay for data each month. In my opinion, none of them are doing anything about backhaul capacity. T-Mobil looks attractive, but their coverage is so so here.

  8. I would love the iPhone on a better network. If it actually comes to verizon I will plan on getting it. Just having my iPod touch has sold me on it.

  9. @Smartguy In terms of national coverage, it's not relative at all. If you don't travel and AT&T works the best where you live, that's one thing. For people that travel often, Verizon is way better than AT&T.

As for your theory of Verizon being just as bad if it had iPhone customers — no way. Verizon's infrastructure is just much better. It's a bigger network using better technology. Your "very likely" comment doesn't fly.

  10. Is it just me or are Verizon's maps getting more and more red on them everytime one of their commercials come on? I do love how Verizon was all Like you want to sue us?? Here are 8 more map commercials, so STFU.
