This Week’s Videogame Releases

Unless I’m missing something, the only interesting game being released this week is Fight Night Champion. Normally, I would be amped for a new installment in this excellent boxing franchise, but (1) I’m off to GDC 2011, (2) I’m more than a little afraid of the new control scheme, and (3) there are two mega-hits I’m looking forward to next week. I definitely want to play this game…but it’ll have to wait.

Any of you picking up new games this week?

Wait…you make a distinction between videogames and PC games? Game is a game. The sector is headed towards homogenization anyway.

    You still didn't list it.

  2. I will probably pick this up when the price goes down more.

I have more pressing things to deal with like finding out what happened to my games that were "delivered" according to the USPS but yet i don't have them >:0

    1. Day Two of trying to figure out where my games are. I've called the post office twice to no resolution. Does anyone have any ideas?

      1. hmm, that is unusual that they seem to have disappeared like that. Personally I would probably file a claim against everything you purchased before and then reorder. Since it was through Amazon it should still ship fairly quickly, and I would think the odds of losing the games twice in a row would be pretty low.

      2. When this has happened to me in the past, Amazon has been great about sending replacements. I'm not sure if they're extra special to Amazon Prime customers of if they treat everyone like that.

      3. I've tried to look on Amazon where i could make them aware of it. I'll try again. Next time i'll just have it delivered at work from now on.

      4. Call Amazon. I had to do that this past December about an order. They have excellent customer service. The guy actually called USPS for me instead of having me do it…and then he called me back with a resolution.

I make it a point to pay for extra shipping now.

      5. yeah i saw the contact us button now. I don't know why it wasn't appearing earlier. Thank you all very much for your help. I've never had this happen before with Amazon or any packages so i'm a little troubled by it.

      6. I wouldn't put the blame on Amazon but they'll def take care of the issue. They'll see how much you use them and make it right. I don't use the Post Office if I can avoid it. Hell, my mailman is someone new every few months anyway. They actually bent a hard cover book to stick it in my mailbox.

      7. oh i don't blame amazon at all. i blame the USPS for leaving my package out in the open. If i was a mail carrier i'd leave a pick up tag everytime, just to make sure everyone got their package.

      8. Good news and bad news.

I will be getting Kzone 3 replaced since that was purchased through Amazon. I should get it tomorrow btw. Bad news since DCUO wasn't bought through Amazon i'm just getting my money back :(

i'll have to see if my friend still has a copy to sell.

      9. Well I guess you will at least be getting the games you wanted. Sucks it all had to be delayed like this though.

I thought Rpad.tv wasn't every editorial outlet. :)Yeah the audiences are different but a big release is a big release. Pokemon will sell a boatload, so is it lumped with consoles? Curious.

Btw, 1.2 million accounts in preorder headstart. Pretty big.

    1. Lumped in? The Nintendo DS is a console.

I'm not saying Rift isn't big. It's just not big here. In general, PC games don't do a lot for me in terms of traffic. Out of all the games bought on Amazon through my site, I only recall two PC titles — one WoW expansion and one FFXI box set.

Gotcha. Videogames to me equal everything. Then there are individual segments: iOS, handheld, PC and console.

  5. I still have Fight Night Round 3 that I never finished, it was an interesting control scheme though. However, I have no interest in any of the other games in the series though. Besides I am waiting for Pokemon Black.

Since it is coming out on a Sunday I wasn't sure if you were going to list it as this week's release or next week's release since the "This weeks videogame releases" aren't usually put out until Monday's, which is after the game actually releases.

  6. Saving all my pennies for Dragon Age II next week!!!!!

I really liked Origins, and I LOVED the combat in the DAII demo.

    1. Speaking of really awesome Bioware games, a friend of mine and I are workingo n converting Mass Effect to table top rules using the Savage Worlds system. That's why I've only been posting occasionally and in batches (and often on "old" topics). I'm spending a lot of time on that and as such when i pop in I have a lot of catching up to do.

  7. I've had a copy of it sitting here since before x-mas and haven't played it yet. I keep meaning to, but every time I finish something, something else I want to play more comes up. I thought about popping it in last night but said to myself, "Dragon Age II is coming out next week. If I start this now I'll completely forget everything by the time I come back to it."

    1. You can beat it in a week, no problem. You should think of Mafia 2 as an excellent filler between games.

  8. I just beat Mafia 2 and I’m glad I waited. Just when I thought I was getting into the meat and potatos I get 150 gamer points. All in all I would give it a strong 7 out of 10 and it looks like there is a ton o dlc so my opinion may change.
