What Are You Playing This Weekend?

I hope everyone has a super fun and super safe New Year’s Eve! As 2011 wraps up, I want to know what games are going to close out your year and kick off the new one. As for me, I think this is the weekend where I finally give Skyrim a good chunk of time. With my luck, it’ll probably take an entire day just to install and patch the sumbitch. Ha!

How about you? What’s on your weekend playlist?

  1. Duck Hunt. I found my Light Zapper and now I just need to move my NES to an older tube TV to make it work.

I guess I should also unwrap and play any of the 16 new games I just bought for christmas.

  2. I was gonna play more Skyrim but I got mad fighting 2 dragons plus a priest at the same time lol. But I got Splinter Cell Trilogy for ps3 for Xmas and I've been dabbling in that while watching my husband play SWTOR. I got Ico/Shadow too but I've barely played it Q_Q

  3. I'm really liking Plants vs. Zombies. I'm almost done with the adventure mode. It's challenging, but fun. I can see this game being optimized for a tablet, though as touching and taping would be more intuitive than using an analog stick. I'll probably be playing that for most of the weekend.

Aside from that, I need to get me a code for the Robin DLC in Arkham City so I can finally complete the game. Beating N8's high scores is not going to be easy. Unfortunately, my highest scores are in the Riddler's campaign challenges, that are not put up on leaderboards. Somehow, I seem to do better handicapped on some of those maps.

    1. Honestly if you can survive the 40 rounds on endless let me know. I consider myself really good at PvZ but cannot get more than halfway through 40 rounds for one of the last achievements. The only other achievement I need is for co-op which I could get if I decided to take the time to set up my wife's account to play co-op and versus with mine.

Oh and im hoping to get batman AC soon, but we will see. I still want to play Halo anniversary, but in all honesty I will wait until you get the game so I have someone to play through the campaign with. I should play Gears 3 sometime too, but I'm more excited to play batman so that's what I want to get next. If I get that I will probably ask for some help in battle technique.

      1. Oh, don't worry, I'm definitely going to try. Surviving 40 waves on endless will be my next "Perfect Knight."

I think I've already got the hang of the game, but I need to develop some better strategies for mass zombicide. Between my wife and I, I think we can manage something since we start becoming master tacticians that constantly improve upon the other's strategy and we always point out each other's weakness in our defenses. We will probably team up to do some co-op next since that's what she wants to do. I still have to finish survival mode on a few of the hard maps. Needless to say that they are hard as hell.

        HAPPY NEW YEAR!

      2. I've actually been thinking of trying for it again. I hear to make it to level 40 takes about 3 hours of gameplay, which seems about right since I spent a little less than two hours to lose around level 20.

The tricky thing about PvZ is that sometimes one strategy will work perfectly for a LONG time before major flaws reveal themselves. I actually thought the adventure mode was super easy, the endless mode and some of the challenge levels get hard. Puzzle mode is really fun, but gets tricky after the first few levels of endless. I do wish the achievements for the XBL version of PvZ were more similar to the ones on my iOS version. I think the restrictions of being on a console are to blame, but there are much more imaginative achievements to get on my iPod touch.

    2. PvZ was already tablet-optimized. The Kindle Fire has one, for instance, that I've been playing for a while.

  4. Saints Row 3 (on PS3).

I got my Mac back… and it's only costing me $40. However…l somehow screwed up my time machine. All of my music is on a separate external (thank Tebow) that works fine. He's scrubbing pics and whatever else he can, but it looks like I'm back to square 1 with my apps. This I can handle though… and now I know how a Windows user feels.

In other good news… the buddy who helped me out took forever and wasn't calling me. I ended up going to where he works and realized that he repairs consoles as well as computers for a living… and it's right after Christmas. He has been SUPER busy. But the good news… he's willing to take me on as an apprentice to learn how to fix 360's and PS3's! Isn't this a skill we all want to have?

  5. I'm going to play all my arcade games in alphabetical order this weekend. Ok, well I'm going to try that anyway and I need to practice some MK for the fight of the year. We finally got our own house so the commenting here will increase as well. Ah things are slowly getting back to normal.

    1. Dude… you're in a 3 point deficit, and your kicker sucks.

I have alot of stuff I need to do before MK as well. My capture card only works for Windows. I used VMWare last time to be able to record. I have to reinstall that, then boot up a new Windows, then install the software and drivers, and then my disk drive is still broke on top of that.

So basically, I'm saying I can still whoop your ass any time, anywhere… I just won't be able to prove it for a little bit.

If you have a Windows laptop, I'll give you this damn thing if it makes it easier.

  6. I'm mostly playing around with the Kindle Fire's games so far. Backstab HD is pretty good, and Avatar played well. Some puzzle games, such as Quell and Quell: Reflect are worth much more than the $1 they are listed for. Zenonia is good, but the controls are too sensitive.

Battleheart, though, is the best. It's a different type of RPG that gives you direct control over a real-time battle between waves of enemies and your party of four, whom you may switch out with other characters (with different job types) before going into battle. The weapon and ability system works nicely as well, and the difficulty isn't too bad (though it still encourages grinding). This one is what I'll be spending most of my time on this weekend.

    1. Meteor is probably my favorite time waster game on Android. Picked it up when it was Amazon's free app of the day. It's a simlple Breakout clone that's fun for killing time.
