  1. Wow. that is impressive that it is back together. I have tried doing this same type of thing before with other consoles…it definitely didn't all get put back together and work again like RROD's did. Excellent job!!

    1. It was easy. I followed the video guide step by step and it worked like charm. The video showed me how to put it back together too.

  2. you know i really thought the fan would be much bigger. a 500GB HDD! i really need to get around to upgrading mine.

    1. It's nice having that much space. I have all of my music and pictures on my PS3 and I have dozens and dozens of demos on it and still have about 285 gigs of free space left.

      1. @RROD

yeah i saw the video on how to fix the YLOD and it showed how to take out the HDD and i was like OMG i can't believe it's that easy! I need to do that soon. what RPMs is your HDD i hear that the PS3s sometimes have issues with 7200 500GB HDDs

      2. It was built to work better with the 5400 RPM HDDs. Stick with that. I've read reports that the faster 7200 RPM HDDs cause the PS3 to heat up more.

  3. That's awesome. Good job, dude.

Next time… remember that it's not exactly the best idea to place a magnet on a motherboard.

    Still cool though.

    1. Damn, you beat me to it. I was actually going to make a wisecrack about the RPAD magnet messing up the motherboard by changing all of the pictures on your console to look like Zoe and only allowing you to play a cracked version of Pokemon.
