New Final Fantasy XIII Gestalt Modes: Bahamut and Brynhildr

Oerba summon

Square Enix has updated the official Final Fantasy XIII web site with new information and pictures on two gestalt modes. First up is Bahamut, Oerba Yun Fang’s summon. Longtime FF fans will remember Bahamut as one of the most potent summons around. In FFXIII, it becomes a…chocobo/bat machine…with a little AT-ST thrown in.

Sazh Katzroy’s summon is just as ridiculous.

Chocofro wields the power of Brynhildr, which turns into motorized tricycle with a carriage top and ribbons (at least, I think they’re ribbons).

Gestalt mode is giving me a headache.

  1. Dont really care for the direction this game seems to be heading.I am more interested in FfXIV and VS at this point im on the fence for this one at this point.

@ ray I hadnt been on in a few days.I want to extend my condolences to you.I think the best you can do is recall the good times you shared.Be thankful you knew her and the time that you had together.

  2. A few things –

    – The chick on Bahamut looks an awful lot like Yuna from FFX in that photo.

    – Chocofro had better be voice acted by Samuel Jackson if he wants to get away with having the bird of birds live in his 'do.

    – I liked the way they brought the summons in to the party in FFX, but I am a bit flabergasted by the "Transformer" mode they all seem to have now. Are only certain people able to summon certain espers? Do they always turn into the car/tric/motorbike or is their a normal mode as well?

  3. At first I didn't want this game because of the female lead. I just couldn't get into an RPG where I'm a tough chick.

Now I am going to pass on the game because quite frankly, it looks stupid. The battle system that has been shown thus far isn't impressing me, nor is this gestalt mode garbage. I'll wait for VS

  4. @Trikkey Thanks for the wishes. I am indeed remembering, every day, how lucky I was to have her in my life.

@LarcenousLaugh She's much dirtier and not nearly as cute as Yuna. Click the link in the body to see more pictures of Oerba Yun Fang. I'll take Yuna over her any day!

From what I understand, yes, each L'Cie has one summon that's unique to them.
