FIFA 18 Career Mode: Gaffer’s Log 2

Premiere League Champions Man City 1

My first season as manager of Manchester City in FIFA 18 has come and gone. It was a resounding success. Silverware was won, older players were dumped, new blood was brought in, and some pleasant surprises happened along the way. Here’s a brief rundown of Kun RPadTV’s inaugural season.

Missions Accomplished: Man City won the Premiere League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup. The owners were happy. The players were glorious. It was great fun using FIFA 18 to terrorize the entire football world.

Later Old Folks: It was tough parting with older, legendary Man City players like Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure. It wasn’t as tough parting with older and less useful (in the game, anyway) players like Fernandinho. Getting rid of Fabian Delph and Danilo for better talent was no issue at all. While the team was winning trophies, I was stocking up on younger players and filling the youth academy for future runs.

Vincent Kompany is a Man City Legend, but he’s old and fragile…and must be sold.

Free Signing Gold: Inexplicably, Atletico Madrid’s Jose Maria Gimenez was able as a free signing. The center-back is young and awesome. This will allow me to sell the old and not-quite-as-awesome-as-he-once-was Vincent Kompany. Gimenez will join my squad before the new season starts and I will offload Kompany for cheap. The best part is that I didn’t have to pay a hefty transfer free to acquire of top-notch player. Win.

The Next Generation: Thanks to the excellent website FourFourTwo.com, I made some cheap signings that should pan out in the future. Center-back Malang Sarr, center-defensive-midfielder Lucas Tousart, striker Johannes Eggestein, left-winger Orji Okwonkwo, left-back Gian-Luca Itter, and right-winger Emmanuel Latte Lath are cheap players that can be developed into top-flight talent. The best part is that they were all willing to accept prospect roles, so I can take my time developing them and won’t have to worry about them bitching about playing time.

Youth Gone Wild: Thankfully, Man City’s scouts have done a tremendous job finding even younger talent. After six months of scouting, they were able to find a wide variety of players with OVR potentials of 90 and higher. Between my recent signings and the youth squad, I should have plenty of talent to turn Manchester City into a dynasty in FIFA 18.

FA Cup Man City 1
I won the FA Cup using mostly my B-squad (until the finals).

David Silva Owns: As planned, I had David Silva lead the Premiere League in scoring and assists. Since Silva is my favorite Man City player of all time, I wanted to do something nice for him…before I try to sell him. While IRL David Silva is a magical player, he’s old and expensive in FIFA 18. It will probably hurt (somewhere deep in my soul), but I’ll more than likely sell him in the near future in favor of younger talent.

Danger Ahead: While my first season as manager of Man City was picture perfect, my second season started with some major setbacks. That’s a story for next time. For now, appreciate the glory of Man City’s four trophies in the 2017-2018 season.
