It looks like Booster Gold will be the next comic-book superhero making his way to television. I never thought I’d type a sentence like that. As many of you know, Justice League International is one of my all-time favorite comic books. The hilarious team of Blue Beetle and Booster Gold was a huge reason why. I’m a big Booster booster, but I still can’t believe that someone ordered a script for a show. Here’s more from The Hollywood Reporter:
Syfy is looking to bring Booster Gold to life on the small screen. The NBCUniversal cable network has ordered a pilot script for the one-hour drama based on the DC Comics franchise.
The story will center on Booster Gold, a washed-up athlete from the future who travels back to the present in hopes of becoming the greatest super hero of all time. Instead of chasing criminals, however, his main priority is chasing fame and money. But Booster Gold discovers that being a hero takes more than just a megawatt smile, and that the future doesn’t happen without first protecting the present.
I’m excited and scared all at once. I love that a minor character like Booster is getting a shot at mainstream glory. I want the show to get green lit and charm America, but I have my doubts. Most people don’t know who Booster Gold is and it will be hard to get them to care. Remember, Birds of Prey had a great debut and quickly fizzled. I’m not even sure a show about Booster Gold will do as well as that…but I’d love to be wrong.

Great! Now we just need a modern-day Deadpool tv show and I can die with no regrets.

Yes and yes. Ryan Reynolds will be playing him and it will be the DP from the comics, not the Wolverine movie version. Reynolds is much better suited for Deadpool than Hal Jordan.
That actually sounds like a pretty cool superhero/show. The story actually seems like it could be right up SyFy's alley, as for some reason I'm reminded of Eureka (a show that I love) being a SyFy original I do believe. It could be a quirky type of show like Eureka is, perhaps with a dash of Smallville in there too. More than likely I would DVR (since I hate the appointment television model).
Eureka is one of my most favorite shows EVER! I have been looking around for what Amazon Prime actually gives you in terms of TV shows and movies, and I was very happy to see that Eureka is one of the many titles available.
If it does get greenlit they should get the guy who did booster gold in that smallville episode; that actor nailed booster very well.
I hate to say it since I know you're a fan, but I can see this one going the way of Birds of Prey, only without the great debut audience.
I'm not even sure it goes beyond the pilot, to be completely honest.
If done right, it could not only be awesome, but break ground in the genre.

Bruce Campbell would have been great a long time ago. I hate to say it, but Ryan Reynolds would make a great Booster.
You know, I was trying to think of someone NBC could plausibly get for a show. The best plausible Booster I can think of (so far) is Jon Hamm. That dude could probably pull it off rather well.
I can't recommend Ryan Reynolds for any superhero roles. He's hit his limit.
