Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the awesome Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio Hua right at UFC 139, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s return to the ring, or the ESRB starting a new rating system for mobile software, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are nearly here! The next week is going to be nuts for brick-and-mortar stores as well as online retailers. Today I wanted to see if there are any deals you’re looking for. Are you hoping to snag some great games for a cheap price? Perhaps you’re in the market for a new console. Maybe you want a new phone, tablet, or other consumer electronics device? Kindly share your Black Friday/Cyber Monday goals and wishes with your fellow RPadholics.

As for me, I’m actually going to be on a Black Friday shoot in Chicago. Paying me was pretty much the only way you’d get me to a shopping mall on Black Friday. I greatly prefer online shopping. I’ll be keeping an eye out for deals of all sorts, but the only thing I’m really looking for is a soundbar. I don’t have enough room for a full 5.1 or 7.1 system. A soundbar would be a step up from my TV speakers without taking up too much space.

Now it’s your turn! Kindly share your Black Friday wish list. Are there any stores you’re going to be scoping out? Any of you going to brave the midnight opening?

  1. I wouldn't go anywhere near a major mall or store this Friday unless you paid me in the thousands of dollars. I don't need the headache, physical violence, and pure unadulterated human greed and brutishness (just to save a few bucks, no less) that oozes like pus from what is supposed to be a Holy Day. Or at the very least, a time of giving, counting your blessings, and being nice to others.

Besides, I've noticed that the best gifts you can give to your loved ones are seldom found in a store.

(Well, possibly with the exception of the Apple Store, but still…)

  2. I just finished doing my Black Friday shopping. I got early access to BedstBuy's deals (until midnight) and bought a crap ton of stuff. New Laptop, XBOX 360, external hdd, RAM, thumbdrives, tablet dock, bluray player and misc stuff

  3. My wife and I are looking at a 42 inch 1080p flat screen tv for just under $300. Other than that she just wants a couple games too. Dance Central 2 is all I can think of though. I'd love to get a 3DS and some other games for it too, but we (I) just bought a Christmas tree and if we get the tv then I don't think we will have any money for that as well. This is also when it doesn't help that me and all three of my siblings have our birthdays in November right before we get slammed with having to pay for Christmas gifts too.

    1. Nothing says "I love you and value you as a sibling" like an I.O.U.

      Just ask my brothers.

EDIT: However, your wife on your first Christmas as husband and wife… you better find that f%#kin' flat screen.

  4. I'm hoping for a good deal on an aluminum full tower. Probably going to pick up Uncharted 3 and a Sonicare Toothbrush at BestBuy. The rest of my buys will be on Monday.

  5. Also, I'm surprised no one else here has figured out you can buy things before black friday, and then get a price adjustment on or after friday once the crowds are pretty much gone. and people usually aren't crowding around the customer service guest either.

  6. My wish is to have more money so that I could actually get something this year. As much as I want a new tv, I think we are going to have to pass so that we can not have to be so tight on money. We really do need a new tv soon though, so we are going to be looking for a smaller one than the 46 inch HDTV we (I) wanted. The LoZ 3DS bundle looks awesome, even though I'm not the biggest Zelda fan ever the bundle looks really cool. There are some pretty good deals on games in general though that are catching my attention. $30 for Arkham City and Dead Island, along with $8 three month XBL subs at Best Buy I think (maybe other places too). Also, just in general the 3DS for $140 at Target is calling out to me as well, but I would probably have to get a copy of Pokemon White too as well as a 3DS game or two.
