Mass Effect 2 Coming to PS3 According to EA Russia

There has been a lot of confusion on whether Mass Effect 2 will be heading to Sony’s PlayStation 3 console. There were heavy rumors that the game would no longer be an Xbox 360 (console) exclusive, but they were never confirmed. According to EA Russia, Mass Effect 2 will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 platforms.

Mass Effect 2

I’m not fluent in Sputnik, but the site clearly says PlayStation 3. I always thought the move was inevitable ever since EA acquired BioWare. Why wouldn’t the company go multiplatform? It will be interesting to see what EA and BioWare have to say about this on Monday.

  1. I only on a 360 but if this comes to PS3 why should I care? As long as the game doesn't get delayed and the quality is on par or better than Mass Effect 1, doesn't everybody win?

I would be pissed if I was a Final Fantasy fan and had to wait another year for 13 becuase of it being ported to the 360.

I was lucky enough to play the ME2 demo level at PAX this year and the combat was very smooth. It was impossible to get a read on your characters and the story but that is not what I care about now. I just want to see how the game mechanics work. If it is coming to the PS3, I hope PS3 owners will put away another 60 bucks becuase this is a must own game.

  2. @Dricknasty Well, some Xbox gamers wanted ME2 to stay exclusive for bragging rights. *shrug* If it makes them feel better about their console, I guess that kind of things is okay….

  3. Meh, it's not like the console manufacturers are rewarding people for their loyalty or putting food on their customers' tables. I say–make ALL games multiplatform. ;)

Imagine it: Halo on the PS3– LittleBigPlanet on the Xbox 360. EVERYBODY wins.

  4. Although Bioware said you don't have to play the first game to enjoy ME2, I still think people who've played the original will enjoy the second one more. You can make a lot of choices in the first game and seeing the results of those decisions is part of the payoff of playing the sequel.

What I'd like to see is a simultaneous launch when ME3 comes out. ME3 would come out as usual on PC and 360, while the entire trilogy would be released on PS3 on one disc.

But that's just my opinion. I loved the first game, and I'd like to be able to tell people to pick it up when all the sequels are out. I think people who are new to the franchise would enjoy it more if they didn't have to go around hunting for each separate part. They could just buy one collection and enjoy the whole thing.

  5. Interesting. I don't see why it won't happen. Maybe MS will get all the DLC. I can care less about that DLC.

  6. @Ray

I understand MS and Sony and Nintendo's moves to try and keep exclusive titles or grab other consoles exclusives, it makes them more money and it is business. Gamers yelling on forums at each other and bragging about their e-penis and consoles just pisses me off. It drove me away from The Feed's forums.

I also got to play Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 at PAX and that will drive me to buy a PS3 down the line in a few weeks becuase I know those will never go to the 360.

  7. It would be nice for all gamers to be able to play this game. However, if Mass Effect 1 is not ported to the PS3, then it would be kind of rude to bring the rest of the series to the PS3. Especially since this is supposed to be a trilogy and not a set of sequels.

Would they legaly be able to port ME1 to the PS3? I haven't seen the conrtact signed between Bioware an Microsoft for ME1, but it doesn't seem like EA could even if they wanted to. Then again, Ninja Gaiden Sigma is singing in my ear.

  9. @Sandrock323 I have no idea actually. Microsoft had it as an exclusive, but did that deal have a window? I also don't know what rights EA acquired along with BioWare.

  10. I see the only bad part for PS3 users is the inability to port your ME character and story to ME2. other than that though I say more games on more consoles. Bioware is too good to be exclusive to one system or the other.
