Internet Explorer 9 Released, Get Free Stuff

Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7. The browser offers numerous performance and features enhancements that make it more competitive with Google Chrome and Firefox. To help promote the browser, the company is running some promos that work with the browser’s pining and jump list features. Free goodies include:

  • Slacker. A free monthlong subscription for customers who pin the Slacker site to their taskbars
  • Groupon. $5 in Groupon Bucks when making a first purchase from the Internet Explorer 9 Jump List
  • Hulu. A free month of the Hulu Plus subscription for users who pin Hulu
  • eBay. Offering coupons or eBay Bucks for bids or purchases made using the Internet Explorer 9 pinning and Jump List features
  • Gilt. A series of product bundles for customers who make purchases of specified amounts via the Jump List

Have any of you downloaded IE9? If so, please let me know what you think. Any chance it’ll become your new default browser?

  1. Does anyone on here use Groupon?

I still haven't seen the usefulness of it. I don't do lots of shopping online though (until recently).

It doesn't help that I refuse to select Dallas as mu current city since that is 60 miles out of the way and even then I refuse to enter my email address before getting to look at anything. If it weren't so popular, it just screams I'M A SCAM.

    1. I've used it a few times. Most recently, I got a $100 coupon for one of my favorite churrascarias. It cost me $50. That was a pretty outstanding deal for excellent grilled meat.

The bad news is that I shouldn't be spending that kind of money and groupon makes it easy to. Ha!

      1. That's kind of what I thought about it too. It would get me to spend money on things I wouldn't normally spend money on because it was a 'good' deal.

    2. I signed up for Groupon when I leaned what it was, but I really couldn't figure it out. I did not pay anything and I think that is the key to it, so call me stupid and/or cheap.

I opted out completely a few weeks later since they kept spamming my inbox with offers for day spas and women's shoes and tampons or whatever.

that's why you need to have a junk e-mail address. I like Groupon so far from the two deals i've gotten. i was tempted to get tix for the Chicago Fire game for the Houston Dynamo later in April but no one ever supports soccer so you can find tickets for that cheaply. They also have a deal for to see the Lincoln Lawyer for $6 using Fandango but i'm not really interested in that movie but thats a good deal too.

    3. i use Groupon regularly. It gives me useful deals and offers near my location. Whenever, i like to purchase something, first i check Groupon whether my required product is available in discount price or not.

It is the best online discount marketplace. With the arrival of IE9, it is even more user friendly and discount friendly. :)

  2. I use groupon. Just got two 1. $2 bought me 5 blockbustee kiosk rentals. The other one was $10 gets $20 to use at a comic shop

  3. Pretty impressed with IE9 after playing around with it for a day…but not so impressed that I'm giving up on Chrome as my main. It's good enough that it could replace Firefox as my secondary browser, but the new version of FF is out soon. We shall see.
