Duh: Sony Wants to Sell More NGPs Than it Did PSPs

Here’s some shocking news on Sony’s upcoming NGP handheld console: Sony wants to sell more NGPs than it did PSPs. It’s true! Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Kaz Hirai said so himself. Here’s the exact quote:

One of the things that we certainly want to try and accomplish with NGP is match the installed base we have with the PSP worldwide, but over and above that try to go beyond that.

It’s good to have goals….

Seriously though, that funny and completely obvious quote aside, check out the interview with Hirai embedded above. He’s a sharp guy and an outstanding executive…and I’m not just saying that because I’m afraid that he’ll send his secret ninja army after me for making fun of one of his quotes.

  1. It should beat the PSP but this whole media sales competition between the NGP and the 3DS is ridiculous if you ask me. They are 2 completely different products aimed at 2 completely different markets. If Sony wanted to compete with the 3DS then I believe they would have made a low tech, gimmicky, casual, device like the 3DS. Apples to oranges.

  2. Killzone 3 open beta is up on the playstation store. searching for it is faster then scrolling. i'm going to try to see if my car can move while it's installing.

      1. @RROD

have you played the beta yet?? i love the graphics but the controls feel weird to me or maybe i just need to get used to it. I don't think i'd be able to play this in 3-D but it looks incredible. i'm definitely going to buy this day one when it comes out!

      2. Just got done playing, the controls are much better than Killzone 2 but took a few rounds for me to get used to. The graphics are gorgeous, I got killed quite a few times while I was just looking around at the game, lol.

    1. Damn man. I feel for you.

It's a tough pill to swallow, but it seems that you're not the WWE's target market anymore.

    2. I can think of 3 positive outcomes to this:

      1) The Mix gives him a Skull-Crushing Finale.

      2) Punk shaves his head.

      3) The song he does turns into Santino's new theme music (for sheer comedic reasons).

  3. Start making more wise cracks about Reggie Fils-Aime's chin and Hirai-San will consider calling off the attack.
