It looks like my wish for an iPad 2 with Retina Display technology and dual cameras will come true. Well, that or the peeps are Reuters are being annoying teases. The company hit up four of its sources and discovered:
One of those said the revamped model would feature cameras on the front and rear, while the other said the new model would be slimmer, lighter and have a better resolution display.
Camera module makers Genius Electronic Optical Co Ltd and Largan Precision Co Ltd were also starting new supply deals with Apple, two sources said, but neither could confirm for which product the modules were intended.
A front-facing camera was a given considering Apple’s aggressive plans for FaceTime. A high-resolution rear camera for photos would be a huge plus for me. Apple’s vaunted Retina Display would make the iPad 2 a joy to look at and give the company a convenient way to maintain current price points. I hope all these rumors pan out! Any of you excited for an iPad 2 with the aforementioned features?
the iPad display is great as is, I'll gladly accept Retina tech though as long as the price doesn't become too outrageous. I plan on upgrading to a higher capacity new model but will hesitate if the prices are very inflated for 2 features I don't care about (cameras) and the retina tech.
I will possibly think about buying one. i think the prices are a little high for 16GB or even 32GB models. i can get a real decent laptop at the prices they want for those 3G/wifi models. If the price comes down and they offer higher capacity memory, i'll possibly really consider buying one then.

For pure portability they are superior to a $400 laptop. You can always get a wifi model and use your phone as a hotspot. It's what I do. I don't touch my MacBook anymore.

yes for portability it is but i'm hardly ever on a laptop. I log on once in awhile during sundays onto my work laptop that i bring home but if i'm not on my work laptop or my iphone then i'm not in the internetz. I'd love to have an iPad but i feel that it's not for me especially at that price.
