Xbox Live Fall 2010 Update Available to Everyone

Microsoft has rolled out the Fall 2010 update for Xbox Live. After you’ve downloaded it, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the update. I’m really looking forward to the ESPN3 feature. Unfortunately, crap bag Time Warner Cable doesn’t support it yet, but promises it will soon.

  1. I tried it for 5 minutes before I went to work and I am loving the new look, sounds, and ESPN.

  2. I liked ESPN when I first got the update, but then I stopped using it that much. I would probably watch more if A) the internet connection in my apartment wasn't through comcast and didn't suck so bad that it distorts the picture sometimes, and B) if they had more NFL content, since we are in football season.

  3. The ESPN content is less than exciting. I found it loaded quite slow and was limited to a very small amount of content. I'm not sure if it is worth the upcharge in the Live service. Time will tell perhaps but right now watching a 3 minute clip of Randy Moss being waived, a CFB replay or some soccer game is not for me.

  4. Thankyou Xbox live update…I now have no respect for Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges or the Cohen brothers. Why the hell are you remaking True Grit? Some movies should not be remade. Any John Wayne western (i love those movies and i have a feeling I might be in the minority here) as well as most Arnold movies.

    WTF?

    1. My roommate likes the John Wayne westerns…I am more of a Clint Eastwood man myself. Rawhide and the man with no name trilogy sold me on his westerns. John Wayne was good, just not my style.

  5. I downloaded it last night and I have to say: I f'ing hate it. It looks worse than NXE! I wasn't a big fan of the NXE update, either. But just as I was getting used to it, they throw this gawd-awful, tacky, retro 80's box-y design that replaces the smooth, flowing look it used to have with straight, hard lines and eye-sore colors.

Gha! Leave it to Microsoft to make me think that the mediocre interface on the Xbox they used to have is better than what comes out after it's gone. Why can’t these people hire a graphics artist from Apple and have him/her do the future designs?

I did tinker around a bit with the ESPN thing and, just like Smartguy said, it has a bit too limited content for my tastes, but I will reserve judgment until I can watch some live football or basketball games on it. If I can see the Miami Hurricanes' away games on the ESPN portal through XBL instead of my laptop, then it would be alright in my book… especially if the game is blacked-out.

    1. Very interesting. Most people I know are positive on the update. You're the only person I know that hates it.

Btw, the reason I'm big on ESPN3 is that they occasionally show boxing. The last Klitschko fight was on ESPN3.

      1. I'm actually trying to. Man City has been crap lately. Too many of the boys are drinking instead of taking care of their bodies. Tevez is off finding his smile. Hopefully they can get it together to beat the crap out of Man U.

      2. i don't have a particular team in the EPL. i follow the Italia Serie A more closely, thats on ESPN 3 as well.

    2. Thats crazy dude, I love the new layout, I feel that navigating through the menus is much smoother than before (maybe its the new sounds as well). I do feel you about the white backgrounds but I can get used to it.

As far as ESPN I am really excited about it. That service lets me see sports I would never catch on tv (KHL, CFL, Cricket, and various martial arts that are not MMA).
