This Week’s Videogame Releases

The biggest release this week is, by far, 2K’s Mafia II for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The buzz on the game is strong and I’m expecting some cool things from this one. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. Hockey fans can hit the virtual ice…on the Wii with NHL 2K11. Last, and definitely least, is Grease for Wii. Yes, it’s a game based on that crap musical. I’m hoping one of you plays it just so you can regale me with stories (that are much more entertaining than the actual game…in my head, anyway).

As always, let me know if you guys and dolls are picking up any new games this week.

  1. i'm interested in Mafia II just because i enjoyed Mafia but i don't have time for it right now. Maybe sometime down the line i will but it's not a day one pick up for me.

  2. I played the demo of Mafia II. It wasn't bad for the time I spent with it. There were lots of technical glitches with it. They use the same animation to break into every car, which wouldn't be a problem except for the times I was breaking into a larger truck and he elbows the door and the glass shatters and he reaches through the body of the door to unlock it.

    I may rent the game but it probably won't be a by for me.

    FYI I liked the movie Grease, just not the second one.

  3. I really dug the first Mafia but there seems to be some large issues with the second one. From what I've read the story is almost the only thing that keeps you going. I didn't know there was a demo till slicky said so so maybe I'll check that out and see if the gameplay is worth it.

  4. So… is the Grease game going to be like a sing-along with the Wii-mote in place of a microphone or is it going to be a game where you have to sell crystal meth to Olivia Newton John while trying to avoid the cops and jail time?

  5. @Ray

    I think if I had a Hello Kitty account my 12 year old sister would make fun of me…or friend me with her account. Probably both. haha. I don't think I'm enough in touch with my feminine side to sign up for that. lol.

    @Games

    I really want to play Afro Samurai still, and with Smartguy and Iceman both liking Alan Wake I kind of want to rent that as well for the story and play them both before September 14th.

    Next game I buy will probably be Halo: Reach, Fallout: New Vegas, and Starcraft 2 is really tempting me at this point because Halo Wars has me in RTS mode for the moment but all I can think when I play is how much better this game would be if it were on a PC.

  6. Between Grease: The Game and The Bachelor: The Game, both coming out for both the DS and Wii today, young girls everywhere can now learn that slutting it up to get yourself a man is ok. Isn't that a lovely thought…..

  7. @Grease game

    Combo up the Rockband mic with the balance board and the Wiimote and through in the Hand Jive and you got YouTube gold.

  8. @big blak

    .99 cent is taxing for a 20+ episode season. imagine people that watch more than one show. thank god i can afford a dvr. i don't see it being successful with hulu streaming episodes within 24-48 hours.
