Coffee Talk #483: Your Most-Wanted Games of E3 2012

A lot of the talk going into E3 2012 is about what’s not going to be there. The word on the street is that Microsoft and Sony won’t be showing off next-gen consoles. Irrational Games has said that BioShock Infinite will not be at this year’s show. It’s looking like the next game from Bungie and the first game from Respawn…

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, the late Johnny Tapia, Paul Williams getting paralyzed in a motorcycle accident, or getting visas for foreign travel, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

A lot of the talk going into E3 2012 is about what’s not going to be there. The word on the street is that Microsoft and Sony won’t be showing off next-gen consoles. Irrational Games has said that BioShock Infinite will not be at this year’s show. It’s looking like the next game from Bungie and the first game from Respawn will not be at this E3 either. Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Half-Life 3 are reported to be missing in action. Let’s forget about all of that and focus on the glass half-full.

What E3 2012 games or products are you looking forward to? Are you intrigued by the (supposedly) vastly improved Wii U? Are there several sequels you’re looking forward to? Perhaps you’re jazzed about the second round of PlayStation Vita games? Maybe you’re interested in trends like the proliferation of mobile gaming or Skype integration with Kinect? Whatever has you jazzed, please leave a comment below and talk about your most-wanted games/products of E3 2012.

  1. I wanna see this year's round of PS Vita games for sure. CoD, Killzone, MGS Collection and Playstation Superstars (or whatever it's called) should be in E3 this time around, and I'd like to see them all. Plus, I wanna know more about this Wii U thing Nintendo talked about last year, as precious little info has been released about it. And what of that new Smash Bros game?

Also, I'm still hoping that SOMEBODY will announce Star Wars: Battlefront 3. I can dream, right?

  2. Oh wait, Killzone won't be there since it's coming out this week. Forgot about that.

  3. More Wii U info will be nice. I doubt they will get their network together, but I'm curios what improvements they are making. Halo 4 is going to be shown off. I'm looking forward to E3 a lot less this year. Microsoft it going to spend most of their conference talking about non gaming additions to the Xbox again and Sony is going to focus on numbers like usual. Nintendo will probably have the strongest conference. They have a lot of upcoming games to talk about. Pokemon2, Smash Bros., Pikmen, and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head right now. I would like a World Ends With You announcement and a 3DS with the second analog stick built in.

  4. Everything I was "jazzed" about are the things you said would not be present at E3 this year. Especially Bioshock Infinite.

What else is there to look forward to? The next Madden or Call of Duty? I'm not really interested in any more tech demos from the Wii U. Looking at the line up for E3, I will make these predictions:

N8 will probably oogle over Borderlands 2 and Nightshade will be all over Assassins' Creed 3.

The only other thing that catches my eye is actually Dragon Ball Z for Kinect. I can't wait to see You Tube videos of people playing this game and yelling: "IT"S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!!"

    -M

  5. I'm looking forward to obscure titles I've never heard of. If the show took place and no big AAA titles were shown I'd like it more. I get enough of the yearly release and big titles year round. I guess E3 really isn't a trade show anymore.

I honestly don't need to see Halo 4 for example. Microsoft isn't ballsy enough to make a dramatic change to the IP so I will safely assume it is more of the same with a little new narrative.

  6. Honestly, this year looks kinda Bleh to me. I don't care about CoD or Halo. Bioshock's been pushed back. I guess it's AC3 and Hitman. Maybe something new for Tomb Raider. Otherwise, there's not much out there that I care about.

  7. Imagine the Wii U, and U and Wii. No matter how they toss the dice, it's meant to be. The only one for Wii is U, and U for Wii, so happy togethERRRRRRRR.
