Final Fantasy Tactics Hits iOS on Thursday!!!

Square Enix Europe has announced that Final Fantasy Tactics will be available for iPhone and iPod Touch on August 4, 2011. This strategy-RPG is one of the most anticipated “hardcore” games for Apple iOS. The original PlayStation version is my favorite game of all time, so I’m more than a little excited for this release.

That said, I’m probably going to wait for the iPad optimized version, which will be out later this month. Ah hell, I’m probably going to buy them both because I’m such a big FFT mark. As some of you know, I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into the iPhone and iPad versions of Civilization Revolution, but I’m pretty sure Final Fantasy Tactics will become my primary airplane game. I can’t wait!!!

Any of you planning to pick up FFT for your iPhone or iPod Touch?

  1. I have a gift card or 2 on my iTunes account that needs to be spent. Tell me more about this game. Sell it to me Ray.

    1. You play any of Yasumi Matsuno's games before? He and his team usually offer a great mix of deep gameplay, fantastic job systems, and amazing music. FFT has a killer job system and one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. I love the strategic, turn-based combat. Matsuno also gets bonus points for being a Queen mark and littering his games with Queen references.

  2. I've already downloaded a PS1 emulator, and that's the only game I have. I'll test it out before deciding to buy.

  3. It depends on the price. Yes this version will most likely be cheaper than the alternative of purchasing an older system and finding and working copy of the game (just like FF1, 2). But just like FF1, 2 for iOS I still don't want to pay $15 to test out these games since I'm not a huge FF fan. I would give it a try for at most $2.99 though. Unlikely I imagine until a sale comes along. With the cases of FF1 or 2 I have been waiting for them to go on sale for a while now, but no such luck.
