Coffee Talk #376: Comic Con 2011 and You

Deepak Chopra is going to talk about Batman at Comic Con 2011. How awesome is that?!? I suddenly find myself scheduled to attend Comic Con…and I couldn’t be happier! This year’s show looks awesome…

Welcome to Coffee Talk! Let’s start off the day by discussing whatever is on your (nerd chic) mind. Every morning I’ll kick off a discussion and I’m counting on you to participate in it. If you’re not feelin’ my topic, feel free to start a chat with your fellow readers and see where it takes you. Whether you’re talking about videogames, Kona Mountain Coffee’s peaberry dark roast, Samsung finally confirming the Galaxy S II for an August release in America, or Shaq kicking off his NBA TV career by dissing Chris Bosh, Coffee Talk is the place to do it.

Deepak Chopra is going to talk about Batman at Comic Con 2011. How awesome is that?!? I suddenly find myself scheduled to attend Comic Con…and I couldn’t be happier! This year’s show looks awesome. Check out the amazing panel content slated for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Whether it’s the latest videogames, comic books, movies, or TV shows, Comic Con has it covered.

What Comic Con 2011 content or information are you looking forward to? Are you jazzed for the Halo Universe panel? Psyched for more information on The Avengers, Batman, and Spider-Man movies? Looking forward to George R.R. Martin talking about Game of Thrones season two and what’s next in A Song of Ice and Fire? Let me know what you’re into and I’ll try to dig up more 411 for you while I’m at the show. Please keep in mind that I’m attending a show for another publication (I’ll tell you later) and have to serve them first.

Hey…maybe Deepak Chopra is Batman!

  1. I'm not nearly nerdy enough to ask you about anything about anything. I get all my info and geekdom news from everyone here lol.

  2. I'm not nearly nerdy enough to know what to ask you about anything. I get all my info and geekdom news from everyone here lol.

    1. No no no I lied, I have been thinking, I guess anything related to The Walking Dead would be appreciated.

    2. I have come to realize that I am not entirely sure what Comic Con is as an entity. I get the purpose E3, PAX, and things like that. I know that I hear a bunch or cool and sometimes random announcements this time of year from Comic Con. Basically I need someone to break it down as if they were explaining it to a grandparent lmao.

      1. Comic Con has evolved dramatically over the last few years. It used to be a smaller show that was totally focused on comics, animation, and related merchandise. Now it's being used to promote movies, TV, games, and more. It has really blown up in scope and popularity. Comic Con was huge for generating interest in the Iron Man movie. People were lined up since Sunday for the twilight panel. It has become a huge celebration of nerd culture.

  3. Any info on th dc reboots coming up. Oh and whats next for the corps with the war of the lanterns coming to an end.

  4. Omg its 95 degrees here but with the humidity and such it feels like 105! I'm melting….

    1. Ya know… if you look at the forecast for where I live now (Adelanto CA), it looks miserably hot for some time to come. I'm sure it looks pretty hellish in Nightshade's neck of the woods too.

What you have to consider though is that this is the desert and there is 0 humidity so splashing yourself with water helps…. unlike where you are.

I remember days in Pittsburgh that were in the 80's but with the humidity it was total ass sauce. You could be soaking wet, butt naked, and sitting in front of a fan yet none of that would help.

So, all that said… I'm glad as hell I'm not just north of where Iceman is right now. I hate Florida in the summer but the winter there is pretty cool.

      1. Yea that's how it was when I went to CO, it was about 90 with 0 humidity and I loved it lol.

  5. it was about 102 here yesterday, plus humidity. That was not fun to be out and running errands in all that heat. It's not like this weather is out of the ordinary for where I've lived, but I usually try to be less active than I was yesterday when it does get that hot.

  6. Honestly I barely know anything about what goes on at ComicCon. It seems like it would be cool, but anything you write about it would be enough to interest me. Spider-Man news would be cool, but I'm still not sure how I feel about the reboot so perhaps it will all be fairly bland to me.

    1. Now I'm gonna have to buy this game for my wife… thanks alot, dude.

      By the way…

That's me in front of the real house used in the films. I've been a super fan of Freddy my whole life. I even grew up on Elm St. I kid you not.

My wife though… is a much bigger fan than I ever was. My house has cases of Freddy merch and memorabilia she has made me buy for her. This game will now be added to the pile.

      1. Dude you and your wife are awesome for loving Freddy and I can't believe you found that house lol. Sick!
