After seven attempts, the IntenseDebate comment system is finally implemented across all of RPad.tv! It appears to be working mostly well. The only two problems I see are 1) the mobile version can’t display comment counts and 2) the links in the “recent comments” tab on the right don’t go directly to the comment. Disqus also has the first problem, but doesn’t have the second issue. I can also use the “top commenters” function of Disqus too.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Most of the features are the same. IntenseDebate is owned by the WordPress people, so perhaps there’s some extra stability there.
- RPadholic smartguy noted that IntenseDebate scales better for mobile use.
- Disqus has a few more social features that are cool. I like being able to see when people link a story on Twitter.
- Disqus seems to be more popular, so if you comment on a lot of other sites it’s nice to see all your activity in one place.
- A few of you really enjoyed the picture functionality of Disqus.
So what do you think?!? Do you like IntenseDebate? Or do you prefer Disqus? Perhaps you want to go back to the standard WordPress comments? Please, please, please let me know. I will go with the system that you guys and gals want. After learning about Disqus and IntenseDebate, I’m confident that I can make them both (mostly) work for the site. If you want me to change system, should I do it this weekend while traffic is slow? Please keep in mind that I’m flying to Hawaii on the 4th. It should be a smooth transition, but there’s always a chance that it’ll break and I’ll have to fly off before I can fix it.
Please take the poll and give me some reasons for your choice. I’ll look at the poll results, but also pay very close attention to compelling arguments made in the comments section. Like Captain Planet always said, “The power is yours!”

I feel so empowered!
I was really digging the picture feature of Disqus but overall I really like the look and feel of IntenseDebate. The issues I experienced this morning on my phone were minor and I'm usually around a computer so I could care less about leaving comments through my phone.
I hate to not have a firm stance but I can go with either. I voted for IntenseDebate.
I'm fine with the Untense Debate.
I prefer Intense Debate. I like the way it looks, and it seems a bit more user friendly on my end than Disqus.

Yeah, it depends on what browser you're using. I have no control over that, unfortunately.
And I think you should have the option.
I also noticed that on th mobile site, the spot that tells you when the comment was posted can scroll into the comment and overlay it.
I'm going to go outside to try and replicate that issue…and also play with the Google+ Android client.
I like Intense Debate. I like the way Disqus and ID thread much better than WordPress.
I'm surprised by the results! I thought a few of you would like Disqus better. I would have been happy to reinstall it and reimport the old comments, but I'm happier that it looks like I won't have to do anything. Ha!
I prefer Disqus, but I think I was one of the only ones who preferred Disqus to IntenseDebate. I'll be fine with IntenseDebate after I get used to it a little more though.
Lol I think we should all change our minds right before you go to Hawaii. Just kidding.
I'm not much into social features of any comment system. For me, I could really care less what commenting system you use as long as it works. My favorite feature so far is the ability to post pictures and animated gifs. So, whatever lets you do that, is the one I'm in favor for.
How esle would I be able to communicate to everyone here about the serious issues we face together as a nation like ignoring the very real plight of veteran dogs that served this country in Vietnam that have flashbacks whenever they see cupcakes?

I prefer Intense debate. It allows me to shoot a reply back via email. Disqus may do so as well, but I don't remember the option presenting itself to me. I also think Intense Debate loads better on iOS.
I didn't play around with the other one enough to have an opinion of it. Mostly I've been waiting on comments to import as I really like knowing what people reply with lol.
This could just be me, but the CSS on the mobile version is really messed up on threaded posts.
What device and OS. It's fine on Android stock browser.

Adding a test comment to see if there are any conflicts with the caching scheme.
