Today’s Poll: Will You Use Google+ Project?

Google has gone official with its Google+ Project, a social network that combines features of Facebook, Twitter, Skype, BlackBerry Messenger, and more. On the plus side, it’s seems like a huge and comprehensive service. On the down side, you know there’s a problem when a company has to post six videos just to explain what a service offers.

Naturally, I have to use the service for outreach purposes (and because I have too many Silicon Valley nerd friends that will give me crap if I don’t sign up). However, I’m genuinely curious about some of Google+’s features. The mobile aspect seems like it has a ton of potential. There are millions of Android users out there and it looks like Google+ will feature super-right Android integration. That said, I’m already a bit schizophrenic from juggling my Facebook and Twitter personalities.

Anyway, check out the videos when you get a chance and let me know if you’re interested in Google+.

  1. Can't watch the videos on my iPod touch, but will check them later tonight. It looks interestig enough to me that they did this in the first place, but I usually love this type of stuff from google. They have such great stuff like this, can't wait to use it.

      1. Yeah social has never been a strong point, but I love interactive products from Google.  Wave was a cool thing to use, and Google docs is a great tool, Gmail is also one of the greatest web based email services.  So it's not necessarily about these being social products from Google, but that these are hopefully going to be innovative and cohesive products from Google that work seamlessly and are constantly being updated and improved similar to how gmail is always changing and adding features/options.

  2. I probably won't use it. Google rolls out tons of stuff all the time that I never use and then it quietly disappears.
I like Google. I don't like a lot of their crap.
Google Docs is just awful, it mangles everything I have ever uploaded or edited in it.
Google Voice works half of the time on my phone and I refuse to get a different number to do whatever else the program does.
I don't read blogs. Not really sure what a Feed is. Google Desktop & Toolbar are useless. I could go through the list of their products, but I really only use handful of them. Gmail, Maps, Earth, Search

    1. Okay so after I posted this I found out about http://www.wdyl.com (What Do You Love). It is a Google service that puts just about every Google product to use in a search for you. Very cool.

  3. The mobile features are super exciting. My Silicon Valley friends are thinking of the whole thing as a bunch of individual apps that are housed under the Google+ banner. The approach is intriguing and the design is shockingly good for Google. Apparently they hired one of the original Macintosh designers to head up the design.

  4. Was continuing to work on comments…but then I got distracted by my Google+ invite. I'm going to go outside to play with the Android comment…partially because it's hilarious that I'm going to go outside to test out some nerd tech.

  5. I'll be using it, for much the same reasons as you will Ray…outreach. I'm not sure how it'll replace/compliment everything else I use, but it looks interesting at face value at least.

  6. Does anybody have any invites for this? I haven't found many people with invites. Gary Whitta was offering some through twitter yesterday, but only to people he knew IRL, and I didn't think I could trick him into believing I really knew him. Maybe I could have convinced him I knew him through Cliffy B through Ray, haha, but I doubt that.

    1. if you sent one to me I didn't get it, and this is not me asking you for an invite lol. I can wait.

  7. Didn't have anything in any of my inboxes. So I checked my spam folders. Nothing there either. But boy am I glad I looked there!! Did you know that they have pills to enlarge your penis AND the South African Royal family are relatives of mine and they have a ton of money to give me once I give them all my personal and account information for verification. Could this day get any better??
