E3 Day 0: What Games Got Your Attention?

A day of E3 press conferences is in the books and the show officially starts today! There were a ton of great games shown yesterday. People were hyped about Battlefield 3, Halo CE Anniversary, Halo 4BioShock Infinite, Overstrike, and more. The buzz at the show is one thing, but I wanted to see how everything played with you guys and gals. What games got your attention?

As for me, I’m going to be championing Sound Shapes for PlayStation Vita. It’s being made by Queasy Games (Everyday Shooter) and it’s refreshingly fun. Screens don’t do the game justice; at a glance it would be easy to dismiss it as an iOS game for Vita. You really need to play the game to feel how much fun it can be. Sound Shapes had me wishing I could teleport all of you to E3 to play the game with me.

Now it’s your turn! Please let me know which E3 games you’re high on, so far.

  1. BF3, Arkham City and MW3 actually.

I'll more than likely buy NBA 2k12 but I'm not sure that counts :)

  2. edit

Add the Bioware MMO Old Republic. I want to know more about the game if there is any new information. So if you are able to get any time with those guys Ray, pick their brains about that title.

Also, that is some of the finest CG I've ever seen. That's a minor thing in the grand scheme of an MMO so I'm pretty stoked about what their final package will be.

  3. I've been high on BF3 since PAX, but Future Soldier was a nice little surprise. Thats all I really got to see, read a bunch though. Off to toil the innnerwebz!

  4. SESAME STREET!!!

Just kidding. That Tomb Raider reboot looked really good to me and it now has my attention. That Battlefield footage looked boring to me. I know the game will be good but that was not a good piece to show.

      1. My 4 year old marked out like a jerichoholic when he saw Elmo and Cookie Monster for the Kinect.

  5. Battlefield 3, of course, grabbed my attention. It didn't help that everybody in the chat room was screaming "Who cares about sports! Give me Battlefield!" I thought the Halo game looked decent and that the MW3 game looked amazing. I have this love-hate relationship with COD in which I love the campaign but hate the online multiplayer (damn campers). At least battlefield will deal with that by letting me blow up their hiding spots. All in all, though, I was kinda hoping for a Star Wars: Battlefront 3 announcement, but Old Republic looked good too.

Arkham City looked pretty good every time I saw an ad, but I sadly didn't see the announcement at E3. I'll be sure to look that up.

As for Playstation, of course Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 looked great. Unfortunately, I haz no PS3. If you want to know about the other PSV games I'm up for, I've got a post in the PS Vita article about that.

And yes, Ray, Sound Shapes looked great. I only wish I was there to try it out. Unconventional games involving platforming or music are almost always a big hit, and combining the two is just… wow.

  6. I want to boldly play where no man has played before.

(OF COURSE I'm the oddball saying "Hey guys, what about Star Trek?")

However… the Star Wars game looked tight too… but I HAVE to see some gameplay. Not to mention that I think I'm going to resist the MMO urge from now on. I have a life that I'm content with and don't need to pretend to have another one to the point where I have to maintain it.

  7. None so far. I kind of wish I had watched the Nintendo Conference first and not Microsoft's. They pretty much ruined several good gaming possibilities with Kinect. So pissed at Fable in particular right now.
