Who’s Your Favorite ESPN SportsCenter Duo?

I’ve watched more episodes of SportsCenter than any other show in the history of television. Hell, there was one summer in college when my roommate and I would watch it thrice a day. Earlier this week, my friend and I were chatting about the best SportsCenter announcing duo of all time. Who’s your favorite pair?

There are so many greats to choose from. Old-school fans can pull out Chris Berman and Charley Steiner. Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick are arguably the most famous duo, though some people feel that Patrick had a better vibe with Kenny Mayne. As for me, I’m going with Rich Eisen and Stuart Scott. These guys had a perfect blend of professionalism, approachability, and humor. Watching them on SportsCenter felt like getting sports news from two hilarious guys hanging out in my favorite Irish pub.

Now it’s your turn! Who’s your favorite SportsCenter duo of all time?

  1. I always liked Patrick and Olbermann personally. They were, in fairness, the guys I grew up watching, but they had fantastic chemistry working together and I always liked their catchphrases, which were generally low key, but humorous.

I never liked Stuart Scott. I always felt like he was trying too hard.

Neil Everett from the late night SportsCenter is terrible. I almost feel bad for the guy working with him.

  2. I like S&R they play off each other very well. I actually like anyone with Stu, hes good with all types.

  3. wow nightshade, i really could disagree more, i think neil everett is totally awesome…seems like a real cool, down to earth guy, def not like craig kilbourne lol

    1. Everett's Norm McDonald routine gets on my nerves. Course, I think McDonald is an untalented hack, so that's probably why I can't stand Everett.

      1. wow dude, our senses of humor are straight antithetical

norm macdonald is one of the funniest people on this planet, go back and look at some of the snl skits of the early 90s when he was head writer….agree to disagree

    1. They're playing how they ought to play. The Yankees are screwed unless Cashman can produce a miracle trade. Otherwise they'll be the most expensive third-place team in MLB history.

      1. Jeter and Posada are both done and won't admit it to themselves. I can imagine it's a hard thing to do. But still, I kinda think this is it in NY for both of them this year.

      2. I agree with this. The only reason you don't accept offers like that is because nobody offers it. Meaning, you'd be a total moron not to accept deals like they get no matter how old and out of your prime you are.

If they gave me the money and I broke down… it makes them look dumber than I look.

      3. No, I think they'll find a way to cut him loose, buy him out, something.

      4. True enough. But that doesn't mean they won't try to buy him out even if it's not claused into his contract. And if any team will pay a guy millions to just go away, it's the Yankees. Fact of the matter is, they're pretty cutthroat and always have been. It's about winning and if he can't produce anymore ,they'll move along. They did the same thing to Donny Baseball at the end of his career.

    2. The Cubs are lousy. Round up 9 of us and we could beat them. I’ll play either 2nd or LF (don’t have the arm for anything else).

  4. I'll get 3rd.

    @Nightshade
Posada isn't in the starting line up is he? I thought he asked to be taken out due to batting 9th. Unless it was just a one time thing and that ESPN article lead me astray!

      1. I think it would be a good move if he took himself out. No need to keep on while your skills diminish. I was happy for extra years of Jordan…but his Washington time was an affront to his glory days.

      2. True. It was so strange seeing him in anything but a Bulls, Dream Team or All-Star uni.

It rivals seeing Montana wearing KC colors. Not sure which was more appalling lol
