Final Fantasy VII Bundled with U.S. Xperia Play

Huge announcement on the American version of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play — it will come bundled with Final Fantasy VII!!! I’ve been calling for this move early on. It’s a brilliant way for Sony Ericsson to attract gamers to the Xperia Play and for Sony Computer Entertainment to attract gamers to PlayStation Suite for Android. FFVII is one of the most popular and beloved games of all time. Launching the Xperia Play with Android version is just a sharp, sharp move.

Also, look at today’s date.

  1. Wow. Okay, I wasn't planning on getting one at first, but with FFVII? Dang, that's hard to say no to.

      1. i know, i was talking about because of the size of the screen. It might work fine, i just cant see it

        (no pun intended)

      2. If that happens for real, then I'd buy it. It's too bad it's not real. They should put it on there, though. And wasn't it already to come bundled with Crash Bandicoot?

      3. It's launching in some regions with Crash. I played it during GDC and it seemed fine. Keep in mind that Crash is a first-party game, so Sony can do what it wants with it. It would be much more expensive for Sony to include FFVII, but I think it would be huge. I'd love to see the reaction.

      4. I'd love to see the reaction to this thing from the consumers, especially if we see some nice Day 1 releases. I expect that the main games people will want won't be the bigger games, but rather shorter games. I think the racing and fighting genres will see the biggest sales. I could be wrong, but that's what I think.

      5. So far I haven't seen anything that indicates a strong launch. There are some decent titles available, but nothing hot. Huge third-party hits like FFVII or Metal Gear Solid would have been huge. Let's see how it plays out though.

      6. Yeah. Although I remember playing Crash from a few years ago, I don't remember knowing anybody who liked it. If they had big titles, then I'd probably get it over the summer (if that's when it comes out); as it is, I will wait for E3 to decide if I'll get any portable systems this time around.
