So many great games out this week!!! Leading the way are Pokemon Black/White and Dragon Age II. But wait! There’s more!!! Baseball fans have Major League Baseball 2K11 and MLB 11 The Show to keep them happy until opening day. Whether it’s catching imaginary animals and giving them the Michael Vick treatment, swords and sorcery, or America’s pastime, there’s a hot game for you.

Any of you guys and gals picking up new games this week?

  1. Going to the midnight release of Dragon Age II tonight. After my wife set her alarm to wake her up in the middle of the night so that she could be one of the first one's to buy the Verizon iPhone, when I said, "I'm going," there wasn't much argument.

  2. I got my copy of Pokemon White (not racist) yesterday. This generation is a pretty nice improvement in the series. I'm not sure if these games are as good as Gold/Silver or HeartGold/SoulSilver, but so far, it's up there.

  3. Well I of course got Pokemon Black already. I wrote up a couple paragraphs about it and then with the site being messed up today because of the web host I lost what I wrote. All in all I love it. I have barely been able to put it down since I got it. I've had it for a little less than 37 hours at this point and have logged 23 hours so far. Really the only thing I don't like is how they changed the PC boxes. That worked so smoothly and efficiently in HG/SS and they changed it ever so slightly and it caused a train wreck. It is now again frustrating to deal with moving pokemon around in their boxes—and I was liking how it worked so well in HG. Like I've read in a couple articles about Black and White, it's the small things that have made this generation better. And for the most part that is true, there are some small changes that make a big difference. But this small changed it in a bad way.

I'm also hoping that there are more PC boxes coming when the pokedex is upgraded. It seems they improved everything else in the game and then decided to throw a wrench in their perfection by changing the PC in general. For as much as I am harping on this issue though, it is literally the only thing I don't like about the game so far. Everything else is fantastic. If anyone else here gets one of these games let me know so we can friend codes and try out some of the cool stuff they have added, or do some trading. My goal is to finally finish a pokedex.

  4. Nothing this week probably. If I buy anything else this month it will be Crysis 2 or Shogun 2. Depends if Crysis has a good single player this time.

I did see a trailer today that has my interest. The Alice game. It just looked so damn interesting.

    1. I was at the EA preview event last week. I have a bunch of content to post. Alice definitely looks interesting…but so did the first one. You couldn't get a great sense of the gameplay from the event, but from what my publishing friends told me, I recommend approaching the game cautiously.

      1. That's unfortunate to hear. I might have to take the wait and see which is cheaper the fastest. PC or console :)

  5. So, here's a helpful tip for folks who have Pneumonia: Do not stand outside at night, in the desert, for over an hour, without a jacket, while smoking. Guy in line ahead of me at the Dragon Age II launch looked like he was about to keel over, but was still puffing away.

    1. I saw some of the saddest stuff I've ever seen in my life at the MW2 midnight launch. That deterred me from any other midnight launches.

      1. It depends where you go really. I've seen some really cool midnight launches at Universal Citywalk. Nintendo does a good job at making it feel like an event — USC cheerleaders, lights, giveaways, etc. I've also seen sad launches that are just a bunch of cold people waiting in line. You think GameStop would at least spring for coffee or hot chocolate.

      2. I've attended only one midnight launch. I wasn't too impressed with the ordeal. I guess maybe it is an atmosphere thing.

The last time I was on at midnight when something launched was a WoW expansion. Pretty fun, but luckily that one didn't involve going to a store. :)

      3. Part of it is atmosphere, but a bigger part is publisher support. Most midnight launches are just store events. If a big publisher is involved, it's almost always better, simply because of the money involved (prizes, food, entertainment, etc.).

      4. Eh, I got the DA2 promotional poster out of it, so that was pretty cool. The only reason I went last night was because my son is sick w/ bronchitis and I didn't want to drag him out of the house to get it today.
